"Reggie! Reggie, look at this hat I made for you!" James exclaimed, feeling as if he was over the moon.
"Oh look at this," sarcasm laced Regulus' voice. "Can I hold it?" James nodded enthusiastically.
Regulus turned to look at Evan, Barty, and Dorcas, smirking. He dropped the paper hat, and stood on it, "oops."
James smile disappeared. He just stood there, looking on the ground, where now just a crumpled piece of paper sat.
"Oh." He mumbled, before walking away, wiping the tears that threatened to fall.
He walked off that day, feeling his worst.
He couldn't even be cheered up by Sirius trying to make him laugh.
Not Remus reading to him.
Not even Peter offering to throw the snitch around with him.
Nothing.
And he persists, nothing could cheer him up.

( With Regulus )
Evan and Barty were smirking dirtily at each other.
Dorcas was straddling and snogging Marlene from Gryffindor.
And Regulus just sat there.
He sat alone in his thoughts.
But with someone else in his thoughts.
He thought back to his and James encounter.
He let pettiness get to him.
He was the absolute definition of a petty bitch in that moment.
How could he have done that.
He didn't know.
What he did know, was he had to make it up to him.

( The next day )
"Hey James." Regulus held his hands behind his back like a 12- year old girl. Smiling awkwardly.
"Oh, hi." James was hesitant.
"I'd like to," why did he feel like he couldn't say anything. Why did it feel like there was somebody holding his throat, stopping him from being able to mutter an apology. How childish, holding too much pride to be able to apologise to where he was so clearly in the wrong.
"You'd like to what?" James interrupted.
"I'dliketoapologise."
"Sorry, what was that?"
Regulus sighed. "I'd like to apologise."
"For what?" James asked, confused.
"For yesterday?" Regulus was now also confused.
"What happened yesterday?" James asked even more confused.
"The paper hat incident?" Regulus asked again.
"What paper hat incident?"
At that moment Pandora jumped out from behind a wall.
"APRIL FOOLS BITCHES, POLY JUICE POTION!"
"Fuck you." Regulus commented.
"Isn't it August?"
"ELEMENT OF SURPRISE?"
