"Oh please James, you couldn't use a different spell if your life depended on it!" Playfully argued Regulus.
"Why would you, expelliarmus is the BEST spell out there!" James debated.
"NO, absolutely NOT. Incendio is the best spell." Regulus replied, lightly smacking James on the arm, which James blushed at.
"You mean the fire spell?"
At that moment music started playing.
James grabbed Regulus' hand, lifting him off the Gryffindor's bed.
"No. No. No. No." Regulus protested.
"Yes." James responded.
"No. No. No. No." Regulus continued to chant.
"C'mon, just dance a little bit."
Suddenly the song started blasting louder than before, Regulus was certain James had spelled it to play louder.
"And it's new, the shape of your body. It's blue, the feeling I've got. And it's ooh, whoa, oh. It's a cruel summer. It's cool, that's what I tell 'em. No rules in breakable heaven. But ooh, whoa oh. It's a cruel summer. With you!"
James sung along, incredibly offbeat.
Regulus chuckled at his crush's antics, merlin how he hated that word.
It made him sound like a 12- year- old girl, and not the 'extremely manly man he was'.
"Hang your head low. In the glow of the vending machine. I'm not dying. You say that we'll just screw it up in these trying times. We're not trying."
Merlin, how Regulus just wanted to grab James' face and send him straight to cloud- 9.
James grasped Regulus' hands, cupping them within his, like a cage of warmth. He moved his arms back and forth, moving Regulus' with his own.
"So cut the headlights, summer's a knife. I'm always waiting for you just to cut to the bone. Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes. And if I bleed, you'll be the last to know."
James sung as if he would simply pass away if he stopped.
Regulus occasionally chimed in for a word- or 2. He never sung, he just stated it in his normal voice, ( BOOOOO ) except for the rare instance when he get to 6 drink Reggie.
"Oh, it's new, the shape of your body. It's blue, the feeling I've got. And it's ooh, whoa, oh. It's a cruel summer. It's cool, that's what I tell 'em. No rules in breakable heaven. But ooh, whoa, oh. It's a cruel summer. With you." James repeated.
Not even Regulus could hide behind a poker- face now.
Not when fucking James Potter was dancing and singing in front of them.
"I'm drunk in the back of the car. And I cried like a baby coming home from the bar (oh). Said, "I'm fine, " but it wasn't true. I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you. And I snuck in through the garden gate. Every night that summer just to seal my fate (oh). And I screamed for whatever it's worth. "I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?" James continued to sing, or yodel as Regulus recalled it.
James insisted this was his favourite part of the song, so Regulus prepared himself for the screaming like a goat.
"He looks up grinning like a devil!" James shouted at the top of his lungs. If Regulus hadn't saved himself by blocking his ears, he wouldn't have heard the next words that escaped James' soft, plump, pink lips.
"I love you."
Regulus sharply turned his face.
"You- you- you love me?" Regulus stuttered.
"I love your personality. I love your hair. I love your eyes. I love your smile. Even more your smirk over breakfast. I love the way you talk, the way you walk. The way you drive your car. Your big dumb combat boots." James emphasised.
"HEY! They're not stupid.
James chuckled, and resumed his confession. "I love the way you read my mind. I love it when you make me laugh. I hate it when you're not around. I love everything about you. I love you. Can I kiss you?"
Regulus doesn't even get time to reply before he cups James' face.
Kissing him with love and passion has always been a goal of his, now he can finally tick it off his New- Years- Resolution.
