"Your class representative (y/n) is going to be handing you a questionnaire to fill out regarding your study options after you graduate next year," Mr. Damocles tells the class while I start handing out the questionnaires.
"I don't see the point in me taking this. I already know what I'm gonna be when school is over rich. After all, I'm already rich," Chloé says triumphantly.
"You know Chloé people are defined by their choices and what they decide to do with their lives. It can also give your life fulfillment and a backup plan should for some reason your family loses money. So I would like everyone to start defining themselves by finding what you want to do later on. It's not only about future careers but what you want out of life," Ms. Bustier explains, Mr. Damocles soon follows up with it being ok if we didn't know what to do because there'd be a job fair expo this weekend to explore our options.
"Can superhero count as a job?" Alya jokes quietly as I hand her, her questionnaire.
After passing it all out I take a seat with my own and start filling it out. However, it was hard to concentrate because of Adrien. I was worried about him since he was still upset about Nino and Alya sharing their identities and Ladybug being ok with it. He had asked to talk to me about it and when we did he asked a lot of questions mainly if I knew or not which took a lot of explaining that I originally didn't know but found out due to the akumatization of Style Queen happening a second time and it had slipped my mind to check whether or not he knew. I also had to explain why it was ok for those two to know each other's identities but not ok for him and Ladybug. It was too dangerous if Shadowmoth got to one of them. I considered telling him about Chat Blanc but I figured he was already mad enough and that was a conversation that needed to happen between all three of us. Not that Ladybug was willing to have it. So for now he was still peeved.
I ended up having to take the questionnaire home where I learned Marinette was struggling to fill hers out as well. "My life is complicated and I thought the one thing that hadn't changed was wanting to be a fashion designer but now I'm not sure," She groans soon explaining that while I was getting snacks she explained what a career was to the kwamiis leading her to be confused.
"Then why not go to the job expo this weekend? I plan to go," I suggest and she gives me a confused look.
"But don't you want to be a (dream job)?"
"Yeah of course but things can change in the future and that might not work out or what I want to do anymore so it'll be good to look at my options and have a backup choice. Besides, I think it'll be fun learning about the different types of jobs there are."
When we got to the expo we found a lot of our classmates were looking around even Chloé who seemed captivated by the idea of being an influencer. We started to walk past André's ice cream cart where Alec was complaining about how pointless André's job was because he didn't have a shop, nobody knew where he was, it took forever to find him, and he picked the flavor of your ice cream.
"Give me one reason why I should bother to chase you when I can get my choice of ice cream at any corner supermarket?"
"Well people don't just come for ice cream when they find me, they come to share their love and experience a magical moment at different places in Paris, and assuming people will let me choose their ice cream it gives them a chance to try something new and fun. No supermarket can do that. I help create magical moments, that's why I say my ice cream is magical it especially works well with couples."
"Creator of magical moments? That's not a real job."
"You're right Alec, it's not a job, it's a career. Now if you're willing to try something new...Lime for the sourness you show on the outside and chocolate cinnamon for the sweet dreams that still live inside of you. One day you too will figure out a career that'll make you happy," André responds, handing the man an ice cream cone, flustering Alec.
"Cut!" He walks away and Mari asks André how he chose his career.
He went on to explain how he originally had a boring office job and he hated it but when he went home he'd have so much fun making ice cream and trying new flavors so one day he built a cart, got the necessary paperwork for it, and started selling ice cream. He then handed us a three-scooped cone of strawberry, cherry, and pistachio, and pecan.
"There to share with your two friends."
Mari looks at me then to her right. "What other friend?"
"Hey, Marinette. Hey (y/n)," Luka says from behind, startling her as we turn around.
"Hey Luka, good to see you. Helping Mrs. Evans run her stand?" I ask, smiling to see him as he nods so we wave goodbye and head over to Luka's booth.
