You're The Music That's Been Playing In My Head: Book 3

Qilin: Part 3

Author: Trigger warning for this and possibly the next chapter. I'm sure many of you know that this episode was supposed to cover ⚠ racism ⚠ albeit done in a bad way and not properly addressing it. (Apparently so was Bakerix which I wish I had known so I could've properly handled that too *sigh*)  I will be calling it what it is with Sabine and our main heroes calling it out and there will be one to two ⚠ racist ⚠ comments to help showcase that it was the reason the ticket inspector guy made the decisions he made. As usual, I will be adding this emoji: ⚠ at the beginning and end of the triggering words instead of censoring as that makes it difficult for text-to-speech programs to work properly. 

Qilin used her powers to summon statues, streetlights, and benches from the surrounding area and threw them at us only for Chat Noir to step in and block them with the umbrella option in his staff.

"Careful ladies. The weather forecast predicted a shower of objects."

"Good thing you brought your staff umbrella then Kitty Cat," Ladybug giggles, leaning close to Chat's face with a teasing grin.

"Could you flirt later you know when people aren't in danger?" I ask and Chat charges toward Qilin.

"First one to catch her gets to release the butterfly!"

"No, it's not a game Chat Noir!" LB yells, throwing her yoyo to try to stop him.

Qilin used another wind spell to blow the yoyo back as it wrapped around Ladybug tripping her up before her attention turned to Chat and tossed him aside with his staff. I wince after seeing him land in a river before my attention turns to the police cars starting to surround the area. Swat teams with shields rush toward her while I yell at them not to. Of course, they don't listen and are blown back into their vans. I sigh in annoyance it's been a while since the police wouldn't listen to one of the heroes telling them what to do. One thing for sure was we wouldn't be going anywhere near Qilin, she wouldn't allow it, and we had to negotiate with her.

"Take these handcuffs off me!" Qilin again demands and I put my hands up trying to keep her calm.

"Let's stop for a moment and talk. Why don't you tell me what happened? Why did the police arrest you?"

"That bus ticket man is a ⚠ racist! ⚠ He tried to arrest get me arrested for not having a bus ticket and wouldn't listen to me! He dragged Roger into his nonsense, breached my privacy, destroyed my personal property,  wouldn't let me speak, talked down and belittled me, and arrested me with a Swat team! I've done nothing wrong!"

Before I could respond she used another spell to throw some vehicles at me and I started dodging as I shouted at her "I never said you did anything wrong!"

Chat jumps in to help me get out of the attack and we meet back up with Ladybug who muttered to herself "All this over a bus ticket?"

"Why don't we go find that daughter?" Chat suggests and LB nods.

"That could work, it'd prove she's not a liar and they'd have to let her go and she'd no longer have a reason to be akumatized."

"But what if she doesn't stop? That'll be putting another innocent person at risk," I point out, staring intently at Ladybug sending a silent question of how'd she do this since Ladybug and Marinette can't exactly stand next to each other.

"We'll just have to see if it's a good idea first," She suggests, telling us to cover for her.

We kept Qilin distracted, letting her throw whatever she wanted at us while Ladybug got as close as she could and addressed her.

"Qilin! Roger! It's silly to fight over a few bus tickets!"

"It's not a matter of tickets, it's a matter of principle!" They both yell in unison before Qillin attacks Ladybug with a wind spell.

"If we find your daughter who has the tickets then we can prove this is all a big misunderstanding!" 

"Is that true? Would they all stop attacking me?"

"I promise!"

"No! She was on the bus without a ticket, and therefore breaking the law!" Roger argues when that annoying ticket man adds in his two cents.

"She was also lying about her having a daughter! Next, she'll tell you ⚠ she left her ticket back home: in China!" ⚠

"You're letting your ⚠ prejudiced ⚠ biases dictate your own sense of justice! Integrity without intelligence is nothing but blind ignorance!"

Roger proceeds to make the situation worse as he calls in three helicopters that begin shooting nets at Qilin, trying to trap her. Of course that didn't work as the nets were shot right back, causing them to crash.

"Stop calling in reinforcements! You're making things worse!" I yelled at Roger as we took cover from more attacks.

It was at this point Ladybug summoned her lucky charm and was given a ray gun.

"A ray gun? But to stop this all we need is the keys to remove the handcuffs," LB mutters to herself in confusion before shouting at Roger to hand over his keys.

"Are you crazy? ⚠ That Chinese woman is already insane ⚠ and unstoppable with those handcuffs! She'll destroy everything!" The ticket inspector protests.

"Stop being so stubborn! If I have to I will take them by force."

"Then you too will be breaking the law Ladybug. Guys cover me!" Roger orders a human shield to be made around him.

"Does he really think making a human shield will work against us?" I muse as LB looks around, forming a plan.
