Chapter 40

Ahana

After yesterday's almost panic attack, I had forgotten why I had come to Delhi at all, but her message was highlighted on the screen which shows she texted me last night.

"Don't forget, tomorrow is Pooja."

She did not even once ask when and how I came to Delhi, whether I was alright or not, but what else do I expect from a woman who left before her own daughter's funeral pyre cooled down?

When I woke up in the morning, I saw Ahaan cooking something in the kitchen. Whatever sleep was left in me, disappeared instantly after looking at his well-built body, I mean who allowed this freaking so damn good-looking body to walk around my house. It should be illegal.

And before I get caught ogling my boss as well as my future husband, I composed myself and my erratic heartbeat, I walked towards the kitchen.

"What are you doing in the kitchen, this early" I took out a water bottle from the fridge.

He just stared at me and then looked back at whatever he was doing, I could hear him mumbling something, "Are you saying something to me, or do you talk to yourself?"

He cleared his throat and then stared into my eyes, a whirlwind of emotion passed through them, and we stood there like statues just staring at each other, I was about to turn and go when he dropped the bomb, "You look beautiful even more beautiful in the morning"

My eyes were wide probably my lips parted, and my heart escaped a bit or maybe two who cares, this beautiful man is saying, I am beautiful.

Breaking the staring contest that we were in, "Ahh!! Thank you" Tucking my hair behind my ear I almost whispered "You too"

Did I just say you too, I just wish it would be better if the earth could swallow me right now.

He leaned so that he could be at eye-level with me and whispered, "So you mean, I am beautiful, Ahana" his husky voice was like a piece of soothing music.

"We are getting late for the puja, I think we should get ready" I hurriedly walked back to my room.

My heart beats like I ran a marathon with the speed of an Olympic runner. I placed my hand at heart and patted a little, "calm down"

I wore a beautiful mustard yellow chikankari Anarkali with earrings and some oxidized rings, put on some make-up, checking once again if everything was perfect, I grabbed my clutch and put a claw-clip and scrunchie inside for just case situation since I just washed my hair, so I am keeping it open for a while.

I opened the door of my room and saw that Ahaan was about to knock on the door and as soon as our eyes met each other, it was as if the world had stopped, his hand stopped mid-air.

Dressed in a very beautiful light yellow colored kurta, he looked as beautiful as a golden ray of morning which filled my heart with warmth.

As if we were lost in our world, the sound of his phone ringing brought us out of it.

He went out with

I took a deep breath, it felt as if it had been a long time since I had breathed, I picked up my sandals and came out,

He was still talking on the phone, looking a little stressed.

He was looking somewhere else, so I took advantage of the opportunity and took a good look at him. He is a sight to behold in this one, he looks as hot as one can look in a three-piece suit but damn this attire is toped that one also.

I was still lost in his thoughts so I didn't see him coming, he stood in front of me and took my hand between his, and that worried look on his face "I am sorry, Ahana, I have a meeting to attend, I tried to reschedule it, but I couldn't" he squeezed my hand.

"It's fine, I think I should leave then, it will get late" I took mine out of his hand and started walking towards the main gate, when he called me, "Ahana, wait..."

I stopped mid-way, I don't know why I was hurt, it's not like I wanted him to come with me, he offered, I agreed, that's it right, and it's not like I have some right over him.

"I will try to end the meeting as soon as I can, please don't be upset" The truth in his voice soothed my heart, "I understand"

"I booked the cab for you, it will be here any minute"

"You didn't have to do it"

"Ohh, look here it is, come"

After I got into the cab, he instructed the driver to be careful and that put a smile on my face.

"Bye...all the best for your meeting"

"Just give me a call, if you need me there okay" he stared right at me so that I got what he was saying, I nodded and waved at him, the cab took off, and I saw him standing there till he could see my cab and that warmed my heart.
