Chapter 16
Ahana
Today I have to meet Aryan and Ahaan's grandmother, so I have to be on time Aryan is supposed to pick me up, I wore a pretty rose print white Anarkali suit, I love this one's deep back neck, but a modest look, and front round neck, it's fit is perfectly hugging my body at the right curves, nor too tight or too loose, just perfect.
I was thinking about styling my hair a little bit, but my hair decided not to get dry today properly on time, now I understand why Mumbai people go with short hair.
I was looking for my earrings when I heard the doorbell, "OH! I guess Aryan is here"
"Hey, Aryan" I opened the door but was surprised to see somebody else
"Hello to you too, Ahana" he forwarded his hand for a handshake
I put mine in his, a shiver ran down my spine the moment our skin touched "Hello" my voice quivered.
The trance broke when the door beside my apartment opened, "please come inside Mr. Malhotra"
He looks at me and grinds his teeth like I said something very offensive, "You can call me Ahaan, Ahana"
The way he said my name is different this time, or maybe I am being delusional.
"Please, have a seat, I will be right back"
I ran towards my bedroom and when I looked into the mirror, my face was flushed like I was in the sun for a long period of time, my heart was racing like I ran a marathon.
I tried to put my earrings in place, but for some reason my hand was shivering, counting to ten I calmed my racing heart, put on the earrings, and came out of the room holding my purse and gift.
"What's inside that packet, is it a gift"
"Yes"
"That was not needed, Dadi invited you just for lunch, nothing else"
"Will she get offended, If I give this to her" nervously I asked
I never got the chance to gift someone other than my Nani, and Mumma, this gift is just a token of love for inviting someone like me even if she doesn't know me.
"No, No, I didn't mean like that, anyway let's go" Forwarding his hands towards the door he said
"Yeah"

Slow music was playing inside the car when I asked him to open the window, he looked at me like he saw a ghost.
Halfway through his house, I asked him about the question that was constantly bugging my mind.
"Ahaan, will your Dadi mind If I give her this gift"
He looked at me and smiled, and damn that smile, if it was not for my years of practice to control my emotion I would have blushed.
"No, she won't" I swear I saw him blushing. It can't be my delusion; it can't be that I am being delusional twice in one day.
"What will you do since this project is over"
His sudden question makes me frown
"The same thing I was doing before doing this project, why"
"No, I thought you would be having some offers to join another company or something"
"No, I will do no such thing"
"You must have been getting some offers, then why not"
"Cause, I don't want to, I will be going back to whatever I was doing"
"Can I ask you one thing Ahana", I swear the way he says my name is different than other people say it, how can that be possible, it feels like he is tasting my name on his tongue.
"Yes, what is it?"
"Why did you join the 'fashion world'"
"Of course, because it is the number one"
"Ok"
That's it, for some reason, his questioning started making me feel weird like, I am lying to myself about something. Why urgh
The silence filled the car again. His sudden question makes me think about why I joined this project other than the fact that his brand is number one right now, and what another reason could be.
Maybe I already knew the reason I wanted an escape, an escape from everything, that was haunting me.
