Chapter 75
Ahana
Rana remained silent, his jaw clenched tight. I decided to press my advantage. "If you are so innocent Rana, then why did you need to manipulate the marriage so badly? even going as far as spreading fake pictures of Mr. Malhotra and your daughter. When that didn't work out for you and Ahaan got married to me you went as far as killing me. And even that didn't work out for you then you try to create misunderstanding between us by sending those damn forged pictures?" I continued "Tell us Rana what else kind of proof do you want to open your mouth and commit your sins?" I wonder myself how my voice is still so damn Calm. This man disgusts me way beyond people's imagination.
Ahaan's Parents' accident question shook Ahaan to the core, he is so calm that it is dangerous. He is clenching and unclenching his fist at a rapid speed.
Rana opened his mouth to speak, but before he could get a word out, Uncle Verma cut in. "Ahana is right, Rana. This entire charade doesn't make sense. If there's nothing to hide, why the secrecy?"
The room descended into a tense silence. Rana, cornered and exposed, seemed to shrink in his chair. Finally, he spoke, his voice hoarse. "There was... an arrangement. A business deal gone wrong. The Malhotra's threatened to expose me. I... I had to act."
"Tell the real reason, Rana, We all know this a damn white lie you are trying to feed us." I stared right at him.
"This is the only truth Ahaan, I am telling the truth. Your father owed me money he refused to pay." He pleads
Ahaan looked at me, I shook my head. The silent conversation was enough between us to confirm that Ahaan trust my instinct.
Rana's eyes darted around the room, desperation clawing at his features. "I am telling the truth. I swear!" His voice cracked, betraying his growing anxiety.
"If that was just a mere accident you caused because Ahaan's father owed you the money. Then explain your fake accident that you forged 25 years ago, Rahul, that's what you named yourself didn't you?"
Hearing the name he used to fool my mother, all the color drained from his face. "What happened Rahul, or Kabir Rana, what should I call you?"
His shocked expression shifted to recognition, and his face became white like he had seen a ghost.
"Hey Rana, looking at you, it seems as if you have seen a ghost?" Ryan teased him. "This...this...can't be possible." Rana's voice trembled. This is proof that now there is no need to tell him who I am.
"Why not Rana, what did you think, no one will know about what you did to my mother." My body was boiling with anger but I did not let it show in my voice at all. I didn't want him to know that his DNA is inside me but the bastard will know when I will start questioning about my mother. So be it, who cares. He is just a mere sperm donar. His existence never mattered before and will not matter in the future.
"It's not true?" "It can't be" he mumbled to himself, when he saw I am not giving any reaction to it he stumbled upon it, "It is not like that, if I had known about you I would never have done this?" Rana has to be praised for his courage and he thinks I will believe him. When I kept looking at him calmly, his patience started to fail, "Listen to me, Beta."
"Don't use those words from your filthy mouth. These false words do not suit you, Rana. Tell these lies to those who trust snakes like you." I scoffed
The loud ring of Reyaan's phone drew all of our attention to him, he went out to pick up his phone.
"Are you going to tell us, why you forged your death, all those years ago?" Uncle Verma took over the questioning.
While Uncle Verma was interrogating Rana, Ahaan stood in a corner in silence, fuming with anger. I know better than that now his head brewing with questions about his parent's accident. I am at least 70% sure now that it was Rana behind all this after all the bastard is an expert in doing accidents.
I was looking at my husband who was lost in his world, and suddenly a memory surfaced in my mind, it was when I visited Delhi last time with Ahaan and was at my maternal grandparent's house.
Flashback
I tried to open my eyes, but my head hurt like I was hit by a truck. I could hear faint sounds of people talking, but I couldn't identify who was talking. There were at least 4 people or maybe more than that.
"Sala, ye Kabir bhi usi time hamare paise lekar mar gaya tha jab iski maa ghar se gayi thi." A male voice yelled.
"Hamare kismat mein hin Kabir or Divya jaise log likhe the aur upar se ab ye hamare gale bandhi hui hai." another male voice yelled.
"Haan, ek tmhara dost tha aur dusri tmhari behn." a female voice spoke with full of venom.
"Damn, this Kabir also died with our money at the same time when this damn girl's mother left the house." A male voice yelled.
"People like Kabir and Divya had been written in our destiny and now this girl is tied around our neck like a hanging noose" another male voice yelled.
"Yes, one was your friend and the other was your sister." a female voice spoke with full of venom.
Back to present
"Tell us the truth Rana," Uncle Verma's voice boomed in the room.
I looked at Rana and smirked. Now I Know other than betraying my mother he betrayed my so-called uncles as well. And for some reason, I feel all this is inter-related. Betraying my uncles, playing with my mother's feelings, faking his death accident, and then the accident of Ahaan's parents.
"So, Rana would like to tell us, exactly how much money did you owe my Uncles?" My question surprised not just Rana but Ahaan, Uncle Verma, and also Reyaan who just entered the room with a file in his hand.
"What!!" Rana's eyes and mouth widen, comically it looks like it hit the floor.
"You just didn't fool around my mother but you also fooled around my uncles, went as far as befriending them. How foolish of you Rana..." The bastard was so shocked he didn't even let me finish.
"...No..." Before he could finish whatever he was going to say, which we all are aware of it would have been another big lie. Reyaan walked toward him with predatory steps.
Reyaan untied his hands and shoved the file that he was holding into Rana's hand, "Explain", Reyaan bellowed, his voice thick with barely contained rage.
