Akira stiffened with a gasp.
She'd forgotten all about them. Master Yuuto threw her off guard when he pinned her down. How could she have forgotten? Maybe she really wasn't meant to be a Guardian after all. She would have gotten so many people hurt if they were still here.
"Come out, now..." Gin said. "Hands up, don't try anything funny, and we'll be super, super sweet to you."
Akira growled and balled her fists. Would it be animal cruelty punching a wolf-human hybrid? Yamiyo grabbed Akira's shoulder and shook his head. She turned to him, and he held his hands up. So did Master Yuuto.
Were they serious right now? They were the ones with the powers. Was she the only one who wanted to fight? Was there something she was missing, or were Guardians not supposed to fight bad guys? Akira groaned then slowly put up her hands and step out the ally with Yamiyo and Master Yuuto.
Kamiaka grin and walked toward Akira, her purple eyes filled with crazed joy. She got on all fours and walked around Akira and the others, giggling. Kamiaka stopped behind Master Yuuto and grabbed him in a choke hold, her red hair brushing against his olive face.
Yamiyo growled, keeping his hands up, standing still. Akira looked around, trying to figure out what she could do. There was nothing. Tsume, Kiba, and Gin had them surrounded. Akira's throat went dry as she forced herself to swallow. She didn't know what to do. But she had to do something to help Master Yuuto.
Akira slowly stepped back and took a deep breath. Without a second thought, balled her fists and lunged forward and slammed her fist into Kamiaka's face. She whimpered and stumbled back, releasing Yuuto. Kamiaka growled and covered her nose. Akira's eyes widened as she looked at her trembling hands.
I just punched a villain... I just punched a villain.
Akira didn't know if she should feel happy or scared about this. She should be happy because she did something heroic. But she was so scared because she didn't plan on what to do next if Kamiaka got mad and fought back who was way stronger than Akira was—
"Hey. That hurt." The red wolf girl barked. "Oh... Oh. You're going to pay for that one, girly." She balled her fists and charged at Akira.
Akira grinned and slipped into a fighting stance, fists clenched, ready to fight back. Master Yuuto and Yamiyo jumped in front of her, blocking Kamiaka path. But Kamiaka didn't stop and ran faster toward them.
Yamiyo grunted and raised his arms, releasing a dense cloud of Shadows from his fingertips. The shadow cloud swirled him and responded to his aggressive gesture, the cloud shrinking and reforming as a ball of darkness in his grasp. His silver eyes glinted with a cold, piercing rage as he looked at Kamiaka and slipped into an intimidating fighting stance. Who needed weapons or Elemental power when the Shadow Guardian had his eyes?
"Go somewhere and hide..." Yamiyo's words were sharp as he spoke over his shoulder. "I mean it, Akira. This isn't a game. You will get hurt."
Akira just stood there, frozen. She didn't know what to do, but she knew she didn't want to run and hide. That just wasn't her style. Akira glanced at Master Yuuto who had pulled out whip-like sword out of his cane, the floppy blade catching the faint light. So that cane was just for show? Akira rolled her eyes and should have thought of that sooner when he told her he was the Guardian of Energy.
Akira sighed and dropped her stance. Yamiyo was right... she was going to get herself hurt if she did anything reckless. And she already stressed him out enough from earlier. She looked at Yamiyo and gave a small smile and an affirmative nod. "Be careful, Yaya," she begged before running to find another place to hide, but also not too far from the action.
Kamiaka growled as she looked right at Akira's hiding spot and was about to make her way over. A shiver went down Akira's spine and she narrowed her eyes, making direct contacting with Kamiaka's angered gaze.
Before Kamiaka could make a move, Yamiyo's hands shot forward, and a deep purple wave of shadows flooded out of him and Master Yuuto's sword whip sliced through the air with a sharp ring. Kamiaka dodged both attacks and hissed, glaring at them. Before the two Guardians could even prepare their next attack, Tsume, Kiba and Gin joined the fight.
The air whooshed with energy as Master Yuuto summoned a brilliant white light, creating an energy burst, blasting the hybrids away. They got back up quickly and without a scratch.
Akira's eyes widened. Who were these people? Sure they were hybrids but... they couldn't be that hard to hurt. It was like... they had superhuman abilities. (Minus the whole being half wolf part.)
Yamiyo's shouted in frustration and rolled out multiple shadow orbs and one orb slammed into the littlest hybrid, Gin, sending her careening into the door of a nearby home. She yelped on impact.
Kamiaka looked toward her weakened sister and snarled. Her brothers were about to attack again but she raised a hand, and they stood back. Then looked back at Yamiyo and Master Yuuto with a cold bone chilling glare. "Enough. Where's that girl? I need to teach her a lesson when anyone wants to pick a fight with me." She yelled. "She's in one of those alleys, right?"
Akira held her breath and sank deeper into the alley while still having her eyes on the confrontation. Maybe she should have thought twice before punching a human-wolf hybrid square in the face, but damn... it felt right.
"That's none of your business." Yamiyo said, glaring at the red-haired girl. "All you need to know is that she's safe from you, beast."
Kamiaka shook her head with a laugh, her purple eyes glinted as she turned to her brothers. "Tsume, Kiba... make him talk." She seethed then went to help her little sister.
The two nodded then both charged at Yamiyo. Before Yamiyo could summon his element, Kiba seized him and a darkness which wasn't Yamiyo's surrounded him. It was coming from... Kiba? But... that wasn't possible.
Yamiyo shouted and groaned, his silver eyes becoming weak. Even in this state, Yamiyo continued to struggle in Kiba's grasp, but he only became weaker and couldn't break free. Kiba was... draining him.
Tsume grabbed Yamiyo and pinned his arms behind him, then channeled the same power as his brother, strengthening it. Yamiyo hissed and shouted more. His movements becoming less. With whatever strength he had left, he used that and fought in their grasp.
Master Yuuto rushed to assist Yamiyo but Kamiaka and Gin grabbed him and pinned him against a house. The sisters' created more of that darkness their brothers did and engulfed Yuuto with it, also zapping his strength. Akira's eyes widened. Dammit. She clenched her jaw and her back stiffened as she pressed against the wall.
No.
Yamiyo and Master Yuuto's voices were strained as they struggled against this unknown power. They were losing steam fast and from the looks of it, couldn't keep up for much longer. Akira didn't even want to think about what would happen once they had no fight left in their spirt.
"What can I do? What can I do?" Akira muttered.
Whatever it was, she had to do something. She didn't like this at all.
Not. One. Bit.
The desire to act burned within Akira, but she remained still. Where was her rebellion now? Why was she so scared? Despite the fear that gripped her, she knew she couldn't stand by and watch. She had to act. Forget fear... forget everything that was holding her back. If she wanted to prove that she could be a hero without powers, now was the perfect time.
But she had to act now.
