*Desert of Doom*
Vultures circled them, screeching down at them as they scouted out their new prey. Zane was working on the outside of the Land Bounty, while Jay and Nya worked on the inside. Jay groaned, "vultures. That's never a good sign" Jay said over the ear piece. "They are carrion birds. It's a sign they believe we are a potential meal" Y/N said as she sat in the shade, handing Zane tools as he fixed the Land Bounty. "Oh. Thanks, Y/N. Way to boost morale" Jay said in a frustrated tone, Y/N smirked slightly as she knew he was panicking by the minute, and this was the only thing making her laugh.
"Can you guys keep it down? I'm trying to reach Pixal on the radio. Come in? Pixal, can you hear me? Mayday, Mayda! Come in, Pixal" Nya said, Y/N sighed as she stood up and started walking around, stretching her legs as she knew this was going to be a very long day.
Y/N walked over to Kai and Cole as they were both sitting against bins. Y/N smiled as she then saw Lloyd come down from inside the Bounty with another bin. Kai sighed while Lloyd placed a bin down.
"That's the last of it" Lloyd said, Y/N sighed as she crossed her hands over her chest, "that's not good. Less than a day's supply of water" Y/N said as she looked down at the containers. "And the ATV and the Dune Bounty are wrecked, and the rock-cycle isn't fast enough to outrun those beetles" Cole said as she looked at his rock-cycle. "Well, even if it could, it would only carry one of us," Kai said as he shook his head slightly.
"Maybe Nya and Y/N can draw some water out of the air?" Lloyd said as he nudged Y/N, Y/N looked at him and then out in the distance. "In this heat? Low humidity? I don't think so" Y/N said as she sighed deeply.
The sound of banging was heard behind herself as she turned to see Jay picking at a rock. "Jay, what are you doing?" Kai asked lazily as he looked at Jay deadpanned. "Carving a message on this rock. So people know who we are when they find our bones" Jay whined as he looked at them and pouted. "Can we try to be a little more optimistic, please?" Lloyd asked as Y/N rubbed her temples.
"I'm afraid there is little cause for optimism. Our situation is dire. The Bounty's engine will not start without the Thermolytic Kinetic Inverter" Zane said as Nya walked up beside Cole. "The thermo-what?" Cole questioned as he looked at Zane with a confused expression. "It's a critical engine component," Y/N said as she looked at Cole. "Well, what's wrong with it?" Kai asked, "it is missing. I believe when Beohernie ripped through the hull..." Zane started but Jay cut him off quickly, correcting him, "Bernie!" Jay shouted.
"...He tore that component out and swallowed it" Zane finished as he looked at the Ninja. "Ugh. Well, that's just great!" Jay shouted as he threw the stone pick behind him. "First, a giant beetle tried to eat us alive, then we smash into a pile of rocks..." Jay said, but his voice trailed off as he walked away. "Can't we use the ATV's Inverter?" Lloyd asked as Nya walked up beside Y/N. Zane shook his head, "it was also damaged" Zane informed the three, "what about the rock-cycle's inverter?" Nya asked, "it is inadequate for a vehicle the size of the Dune Bounty" Zane said.
As Jay walked away, the others spoke, but quickly stopped when Jay's screams were heard. "Help!" Jay screamed as a beetle was pulling him down to the sand. "Jay!" Y/N shouted as she ran towards Jay quickly with the others following closely behind her. "Help!" Jay shouted as he grunted, losing his grip on a rock as he started to fall. Y/N slid on the rock as she grabbed his hand tightly, "hand on, Jay!" Y/N shouted as Lloyd lifted her and pulled her back as the other made a chain. "Pull me in! Pull me in!" Jay pleaded as he held onto Y/N's hand with both of his hands. "I can't! He's too strong!" Y/N grunted as she tried pulling him up.
"Cole, can you grab my shirt?" Kai asked as he looked back at Cole, "I think so!" Cole shouted back as he switched from Kai's hand to his shirt. Kai nodded at Cole as he turned his body to the beetle, "take this!" Kai shouted as he shot fire at the beetle. The beetle let go of Jay as it made a loud ear piercing screech before digging back into the sand.
Jay gasped as Y/N and Kai pulled him up and onto the rock. "Did you see that? He just tried to eat me!" Jay shouted as he gripped Kai's shirt and shook him. "We better keep off the sand" Lloyd said as he placed his hand on Y/N's lower back and guided her to move away from the sand. Jay scoffed, "oh, really?" Jay said sarcastically as Lloyd rolled his eyes slightly while walking with Y/N.
