My eyes slowly fluttered open, my vision unclear, so blinked few times till I got a clear view of what I was staring at. It was a glass of water with a pain relief drug beside on the side table.

Sun ray cascaded through from the curtains, it was morning. How long have I been out?

I slowly turned to the other side, pain shooting through my arm, I groaned and slowly sat up before glancing down at my arm, it felt dore and it hurt as hell, the pain was excruciating, numbing. How didn't I feel it last night?

I glanced at the clock, it was past 9 am. I let out another breath and stared at the door.

I was tired, just weak...tired. My phone began ringing beside and I glanced at it, it was Kourtney as expected. I picked it up and let out a sigh before answering. "Hey"

"Hey boss. You dropping by today?" She asked and a little smile made way to my lips. "You miss me?"

"Hell no, I'm chilling in your office right now, spinning in your seat, chugging down all your apple drinks from your mini refrigerator" she joshed and I chuckled, the sound rich and deep in my chest that it almost hurt.

"You won't dare"

"Of course, I won't. I don't want my balls in my hand" she confessed and my smile widened, there was silence as we both let out a breath. "Are you okay?" She asked and I felt everything stop at that moment.

She has always asked me that but this one was different, it was very different from the other times she's asked me, because I wanted to be asked if I was okay.

I wasn't. I very much weren't.

But I couldn't tell, I couldn't tell them. I couldn't get them involved, they wouldn't understand.

"Yes" I answered tightly, a tear trailing down my cheek, that was a hard one to answer. I've always lied to her but I didn't want to but I had no choice.

I needed someone, I needed someone here with me but I couldn't ask, it wasn't worth the trouble.

"Oh oh oh, I forgot to tell you" she suddenly brought up and I sniffed in, wiping my eyes. "Davis asked me out this evening for a date"

"Ooh" I crocked out, trying to force excitement into my voice. "I hope that turns out well"

"I can't wait, though I was to postpone the time till later since you aren't showing up today" she said. "No no no, you can go. There isn't much to do anyways"

"We still got the Luminary Ball to plan" she reminded. "Yeah, that can wait but your love story can't " I replied and she chuckled.

"If you say so"

I let out another sigh and glanced back at the window, "Do you want me to drop by? We could have Chinese and —"

"Kourtney, that won't be necessary. Besides, I said I'm fine and Bethany will fill in when you leave " I said. "Bethany?" She huffed. "The bitch who gave herself another week off?"

That made me burst out laughing. "Christmas is around the corner, you too need a week off" I said. "So, when are you gonna give me mine?"

"Very soon, you deserve it"

"If you say so" she let out one final sigh. "I gotta go boss, you don't pay me to talk over the phone " she reminded and I smiled. "Of course "

"Byeee" she drawled before ending the call and I fell bay, dropping the phone beside. What would I have done with her?

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I've been standing here for over a minute now. Sighing, I pulled my hair up into a messy bun before fixing the little top and short I had on.
