TRAVIS'S P.O.V
"Is drinking the best idea right now?" Adrian asked and I shot him a pointed look as I placed the glass down. "You can judge me when I'm dead" I replied, glancing out the window.
"The investigation is still on going and-"
"Trent did it" I cut him off, grabbing the glass and taking another gulp from it. "How do you-"
"It's my second warning. He thinks I rat him out to the Society" I replied. "But...did you?" He asked and my eyes shot to him immediately.
"Alright, what's the next plan?" He asked, sensing the death glare. "The search for him is still on going, my best guess is that he isn't in the country anymore, perhaps Italy" he articulated.
"He wouldn't go there. He's wanted by both the Vipers and Scorpions" I answered. He wasn't that stupid, though he was stupid enough to get himself into this shit.
"I'm happy you're awake now" he heaved and I glanced down at myself, "why the hell is my arm on a cast?"
"You know you got shot twice, right?"
I didn't know that.
"One in the chest and the other in the arm" he informed and I hissed, downing the content in my glass. "The two masked men were caught last night, they are refusing to corporate -"
"I don't need their corporation, it is Trent"
"It could be the Society " he countered and I turned to him. "This is all a game, Adrian. They need me, with Trent gone, the position is vacant. Only someone with the bloodline can lead, that's why he's tryna take me out..." I then paused, "it's either me or him"
"Or an heir" he chidee and I looked up at him. "That's why she needs to be protected at all cost. She can't get involved in this"
"She's tryna keep you safe too, you know that, right?" He reminded and I let out another sigh, raking my hair.
"The Society will go to any extent to get me, that's why I don't want her involved in anyway" I said. "And you need to promise that no matter what happens...you will keep her safe by all means "
"Why are you talking like that?" He asked, something flickering in his eyes. "I'm serious, Adrian. You'll protect her...from me even"
Silence followed and he leaned on the table, "Don't tell me you're considering the Society" he warned, his voice low. I leaned back on my seat, shutting my eyes.
"Travis!" He slammed on the table, startling me and I jolted, my eyes shooting to him. He had fire in his eyes. "This is a threat, Travis. If you get involved in that shit, I'll kill you, myself"
I couldn't hold myself back from smiling. It was a rare sight to see this fucker ever serious. "Alright, I've heard you. Pour me a glass, will you?" I requested and he glared.
"Pour it yourself"
"You see my arm on a cast right?" I pointed and he hissed before grabbing the bottle and filling the glass up with Martel again. I grabbed it and took a gulp but then immediately, the door burst open and our eyes shot back.
Pearl stepped in, her eyes landing on me, I immediately spat out the drink I had already gulped in. "Travis!" She called, her voice causing Adrian to jump from his seat, I pushed the glass and bottle away.
Her hands over her chest, her steps towards us precise, her gaze cold. "Alright boss, I'll...I'll just go..." He sauntered back while I tried, holding him.
"I'll be...out"
I shot him a look but he shook his head. She stopped at the table, taking in the scene and I immediately got up, backing up. "Are you seriously drinking right now?!" She exclaimed.
