I glanced at my phone one more time, he had the balls to send Harrison inform me about his impromptu trip to Washington. I'll deal with him later but for today... let's focus on the Maxwell's wedding.
The event was going to be perfect, everything was set. The decorations the flowers, everything was in place. We outdid ourselves once again. For today, I was in a white halter neck top.
I took in the place one more time before heading in, I walked past the bridesmaids all in white, and also the groomsmen who were posted at the door of that asshole—the groom.
I haven't had an encounter with him since he made his advances obvious towards me. Hissing, i headed straight for the bride's room. Knocking quietly, I pushed the door open and stepped in.
Hazel turned around and I gasped, my hands over my mouth. She looked glorious in her dress, it was a sleeveless with an open back and a full length of skirt. Her hair in a neat bun and her makeup all done.
"Oh my gosh. You look breathtakingly beautiful!" I praised, shutting the door. "You think?"
"Of course. You gotta be the prettiest bride I've worked with" I admitted and she chuckled, turning to the mirror, to look at herself once again. "Are the guest arriving?" She inquired, turning back to me again.
"Yes" and they were all in white, all thanks to Mr know it all's idea for the theme. We can't even be told apart from the bride! "And Maxwell?"
I turned to her fully this time, I could tell she was anxious, she was rubbing her sweaty hands on the dress. "He's good, you both are gonna shine bright today"
Literally.
She stared, her eyes desperately searching in mine for something, she was at the brink of speaking but something held her back. "Hazel—"
"I can't do this!" She finally blustered, grabbing both my hands. "What...what do you—"
"I don't wanna do this, Pearl. I don't wanna marry Maxwell. I don't want to—" she huffed, letting go of me and walking to the other side. I stood there frozen, not seeming to register her sentences yet.
"I can't go on with this. I have to—i have to..." I got hold of myself and looked up at her. "Hazel Hazel" I called, walking to her.
"Pearl, I know I'm acting crazy right now, I know—"
"No no no no" I shook my head, grabbing hold of her hands. They were shaking and beads of sweat were rolling down her face. "Come...come take a seat" I suggested, leading her to the sofa.
She sat down with a thud and let out a sigh, I hurried to the mini refrigerator and got out a bottle of water before hurrying back to her and handing it to her. She uncapped it and immediately downed the whole thing down.
I grabbed the magazine beside and began fanning her even though the room was really cool. I squatted in front of her, "Alright breathe. Take one in and out" I instructed and she did so and got relaxed a bit.
"Now talk to me" I urged and she let out another sigh. "Maxwell is a great guy, he's a... he's a provider but..." I waited for her to get to to the cons, I mean let's be fucking for real, Maxwell is a horrible human being, he's a piece of shit!
"He's controlling!" She declared and I nodded in agreement. "He doesn't let me speak, always interrupting me. He chose a white theme for the wedding for crying out loud!" She exclaimed.
That was definitely the icing on this unsavory cake. I mean, who the hell chooses white for their wedding theme?!
"And and..." She sniffed in, tears stumbling down her eyes. I immediately reached for the box of tissues on the table and handed it to her. "Thank you" she grumbled, sniffing into the tissue.
