I stepped out of the house this morning in a white button shirt and a black dazzling skirt over it and black knee length boots, my black bag in hand.
I headed to the car and Abel pulled the door to the back seat open for me. I paused and looked up from my phone, "I'll drive, hand over the keys" I ordered, straightening my hand out to him.
His gaze shifted and I saw the hesitation in his eyes, "Mrs Ferrari, it is my job to-"
"I'm aware of what you do, Abel. It's the weekend as you know it and I'm not heading to the office. See it as your break, I'll be fine " I assured and he lingered before reluctantly handing the keys over.
I smiled and hopped into the driver's seat before driving out. I tapped on the GPS and it instructed me to my location, I know you are wondering where that is.
I pulled over and stepped out, taking in my surrounding to make sure I wasn't being followed. I keep having that eerie feeling when I'm out alone.
I headed into the building and a satisfied smile appeared on Aiden's lips once he saw, he got up to welcome. "Hey" I said, stopping at the table, he laid a light kiss on my cheek.
"You look beautiful as always"
"If there was a class for sweet talkers, you will be the top" I said and he chuckled as we sat down. "Guilty as charged, I guess. I just call it as it is"
"Thank you, I guess" I appreciated, crossing my leg over the other and watched as his eyes followed. "So, have you ordered?" I brought his attention back.
"How would I?"
I chuckled and picked up the menu and we began scheming through. I felt him stealing glances at me, "how's Travis?"
"He's on a trip" I answered curtly. I couldn't tell how he was, so why not tell where he was. "And how has work been?"
"I'm sure you don't wanna hear about all the weddings I've planned" I teased, placing down the menu. "Try me" he dared and I grinned.
Minutes later.
"...and then we realized it was the wrong dress."
"You're kidding."
"I wish I were! It was a disaster," I said, taking a sip of my drink as he laughed. "Your job must be pretty chaotic at times."
"It definitely can be. Sometimes we get double-booked and have to juggle multiple events at once," I explained. He nodded in understanding.
"I'm guessing your work life isn't as hectic?"
"I wish it were... more eventful. But sometimes, it does get pretty crazy," he replied, shooting me a sly smile. I raised an eyebrow, already sensing where he was going.
"Like the competition between top firms... RedCo and Empire, for example?"
"Now, that's interesting," I murmured, picking at my salad.
He leaned back in his chair, clearly amused. "You'd be surprised how intense it can get. A lot of things are on the line, and a lot of egos get bruised."
I chuckled, shaking my head. "Sounds like a lot of drama. I can't imagine working in that kind of environment."
"It's not all bad," he said, a glint in his eye. "But it does have its moments. Kind of like this conversation," he added with a wink.
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? How's that?"
"Well, there's always a bit of competition, even when you least expect it. Everyone's trying to one-up the other, trying to make their mark. But sometimes, it's the little moments that matter the most," he said, his tone softening.
