PEARL'S P.O.V
Monday.
Christmas.
I took a subtle sip of the drink as I leaned on the bar, my phone began ringing on the table beside me, I smiled once I glanced at the contact ID before answering.
"I'm working, Bethany"
"Oh please, you're at a party with celebrities" she disagreed and I chuckled before taking another sip of the drink. "So, how... how is it going?" She asked and I turned back to the party.
"It's chill"
"Chill? You're at the god damn party for crying out loud!" she shouted and I laughed. "Well, I was in the bathroom with Selena"
"Selena?" I hummed in confirmation. "The Selena?"
"Yep" I answered once again, taking another gulp from my glass. "Then your Christmas is looking better than mine"
"Are you serious? You're resting at home with your husband!" I pointed and she chuckled. "It getting tiring"
"It's barely 3 weeks since your marriage" I reminded, chuckling to myself. "Yeah, so what about you? What will you be doing after that? Are you gonna be snuggling up with Travis later?"
I paused, the glass just over my lips. That ship had sailed. Not coming up with a lie, I laughed it off and took another gulp. "So, when will you be leaving?" She asked.
"In a few minutes, I'm already bored"
"Bored! You're in the same room with Julia Roberts!" She exclaimed. "We live in LA, we see celebrities every other day" I shrugged in response.
"Alright, if you say so. Well, I just called to wish you a Merry Christmas" she said and I smiled, it didn't feel like Christmas.
"I wish you the same. Have you heard from Kourtney?" I asked. "She's prolly cuddling up with Davis at home, you know it's really cold tonight"
It was.
"Well, thanks for calling" I appreciated and I knew she had a smile on her lips. "See you in a few weeks" with that the call ended and I let out another sigh before turning back to the bar.
I placed down the glass and leaned away. It was time to leave. I grabbed my little bag and headed to the exit, for tonight I wore a white sleeveless dress.
I was handed my grey coat before heading out of the event to the cold night. I was handed my keys and I walked down the snow towards the car.
I pulled it open and hopped in, letting out a sigh, I pulled it into gear and drove out. The streets were lively, everyone outside even though it was quite late.
It was the festive season.
My mind completely went numb as I just stared out into the street as I drove. It's been 2 days since the encounter, since the reminder of what all this shit was about.
I was over it now, my mind had gotten numb. I know you're wondering how I got here. Well, I have an effective coping mechanism.
I was drunk every other night and I... I think I was drunk now, isn't it unsafe driving with a drowsy vision? That was the least of my problem.
I was over it, I was over him. He didn't matter anymore, infact, I was grateful for the reminder, I had gotten distracted there, I had lost myself for a second.
So, that reminder was very much needed, it was something I needed to hear, it was like he pushed my factory reset button. And at least, he did that before the year ran out, I needed to start the year on a new page.
