It was evident to everyone at Hogwarts that something had shifted with the Marauders' pack. They all noticed that Cedric Diggory, the heartthrob of Hogwarts, was spending a significant amount of time with them, more often than he had before. It became quite common for the popular group to occupy the Hufflepuff table during meals and were often seen conversing with Cedric's friend group.
January passed quickly, and before she knew it, it was now February 14—Valentine's Day. As Adelaide tiredly made her way to the great hall for breakfast with Luna, she found herself growing increasingly frustrated. On her short journey, she was repeatedly stopped by others gifting cards, flowers, and even chocolates. While she appreciated each card and gift, it was becoming a little overwhelming and was pleased that her bag held an expansion and feather-light charm, otherwise the journey would have been extremely difficult.
"I find it sweet" Luna giggled, holding numerous cards that had been given to her, against her chest.
Adel smiled, seeing the genuine happiness on her little moon's face and let out a sigh. "Okay, but be careful with any chocolate or sweets given to you. I know you have your heiress ring but remain cautious"
Luna smiled dreamily as she linked her pinkie with her older sister figure's, swinging their arms back and forth. The males of the pack were skipping breakfast to exercise and train, while the witches had rushed to breakfast after abandoning dinner the night before for studying. As they entered the great hall, Adelaide immediately noticed the attention she and Luna were receiving from the males. She groaned internally, fully aware that the maraudettes—her term for the female members of the pack—would be approached at breakfast now that the males weren't around to intimidate them.
"About fucking time," Tracy said, her mouth full of chocolate-covered waffles. Daphne's face screwed up in disgust, nudging the girl with her icy blue eyes narrowed, making Tracy swallow and smile sheepishly.
"Where have you been?" Ginny asked softly, her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she sipped on her mocha coffee — one of the new items arranged for each table by Adelaide and the house elves.
"Our Alpha has a lot of admirers. Her bag is full of Valentine cards and gifts" Luna giggled before placing a single grape in her mouth, ignoring the half-hearted glare aimed her way while the maraudettes squealed.
"Oh! Show us!" Pansy pleaded, shaking Adelaide's arm excitedly. Adelaide remained blank-faced, completely done with the situation already.
"Please, Adel" Adelaide groaned, seeing the puppy dog eyes given by Ginny and scolded herself for being so weak when it came to the cubs of the pack.
"Get off you" She laughed as she slapped Pansy's hands off her arm before fishing out the gifts and cards given to her by witches and wizards alike. She tossed them on the table before digging into her breakfast, the Nutella-covered pancakes satisfying her period cravings.
"Dear Lady Potter-Black-" Angelina, who was sitting on the other side of Pansy began to read. "Your beauty has no bounds and those green eyes shine like beautiful emeralds, captivating me whenever I see you. Come seek my attention, my beautiful witch and I shall give you all that you desire. Lots of love, your admirer; Jason Wong"
"Who the fuck is Jason Wong?" Katie Bell questioned from her seat opposite Adelaide.
"6th year Hufflepuff" Adelaide responded in a bored tone before sipping on her mocha, knowing she'll need all the energy she could get if she's going to deal with unwanted attention.
"Oh... yeah, I have no clue who that is-" Katie's eyes then found a particular wizard approaching them, her lips pressed together to hide the amusement as she realised his eyes were set on Adelaide.
