"Seven protectors. One small miracle. A family they never saw coming."
The rain was relentless that night, pouring over the city like it was trying to wash away the filth. Inside the black SUV, silence hung heavy—tense, expectant. Chan sat in the front seat, eyes fixed on the rundown warehouse two blocks ahead.
"We sure this is the place?" Seungmin asked from the back, voice low but sharp.
Jeongin was already flipping through the blueprints on his tablet. "Matches the intel. Three guards outside. Probably more inside."
"Hyung," Jisung piped up, bouncing his leg anxiously, "are we going non-lethal or...?"
Chan turned, dark eyes meeting each of theirs. "We get the kids out. Anyone who tries to stop us... gets stopped."
Minho cracked his knuckles from the passenger side. "Finally. I'm sick of just watching them play gods with lives."
"Kids, Chan," Hyunjin reminded gently. "Keep your cool. We don't want to scare them."
"I know," Chan murmured. "Let's move."
The warehouse was quiet at first glance. Too quiet. The team fanned out, Changbin and Minho taking point while Hyunjin and Seungmin slipped to the sides.
Then—
Thud.
A guard hit the ground without a sound, courtesy of Minho's swift strike.
"Clear," he mouthed.
They entered.
The air was stale. Boxes were stacked against the walls, and makeshift cells lined the far end of the warehouse. The whimpering of children was faint, muffled behind locked doors and heavy steel.
Chan's heart clenched. "Jisung, Seungmin—start opening them. Hyunjin, make sure none of these bastards hit the alarms."
"On it," Seungmin said, already at the first door with a keycard swipe in hand.
The first lock gave way, and a small girl stumbled out, tears tracking through the dirt on her face.
"It's okay, you're safe now," Seungmin said gently, kneeling. "We're going to take you home."
More doors opened. More children. Different ages, all wide-eyed and frightened, clinging to one another and flinching at every noise.
Minho's jaw was tight. "They're just kids. These bastards deserve worse than what we're about to give them."
"Later," Chan said tightly. "Get the kids out first. Then we burn this place to the ground."
Minutes passed. All the cells were emptied, the children gathered in the van outside with Jeongin keeping them calm.
But then—
"Hyung," Jisung called from the far corner of the warehouse. "There's one more. In a box."
Chan rushed over. It wasn't a cell. Just a supply crate, slightly ajar. Inside was a bundle of blankets. And under them—
A tiny boy. Blonde. Pale. Curled up with wide brown eyes filled with terror.
"Hey..." Chan knelt beside the crate slowly. "It's okay. We're here to help you."
The little boy didn't speak.
"What's your name?"
The boy clutched his blanket tighter. Then, in a small broken voice, "Lixie..."
"Felix?"
He nodded once.
Minho stepped closer, careful not to crowd him. "Where's your mama, Felix?"
Felix sniffled. "Bad mens... hurt mama... she no wake up..."
