"When magic needed a home, it found them."

"Hyunjin, you almost done out there?" Chan's voice called from inside the house.

"Just a few more leaves to rake!" Hyunjin replied, brushing his hair out of his eyes and sighing as he bent to gather another pile of stubborn autumn leaves. The afternoon sun warmed his back, birds chirped somewhere overhead, and for a moment, everything felt peaceful.

Until he heard it.

A faint sniffle. Like someone crying. A tiny, soft sound.

Hyunjin froze. He glanced around the yard. "Hello?" he called gently, standing up straight and setting the rake down. "Is someone out here?"

More sniffles. Then the sound of a hiccup.

"Chan?" he called again, warier now. "I think someone's—"

A rustling in the flowerbed made him stop short. He crept closer, heart racing, and slowly parted the tall stems of the overgrown daisies. His breath caught.

Curled in the middle of the flowers, half-covered in dirt and petals, was a small child. A little boy. Blonde curls tangled with twigs, soft sobs shaking his tiny shoulders. His shirt was torn, and his bare feet were muddy. But most surprising of all...

The child had wings.

Translucent, glimmering wings—like a dragonfly, but with veins that shimmered gold and blue in the sunlight. They twitched now and then, weak and crumpled.

Hyunjin dropped to his knees. "Hey, hey... it's okay," he whispered, stunned but gentle. "Hey, little guy..."

The boy blinked up at him, eyes watery and impossibly blue. "Hyuh... Hyunjinnie?" he squeaked, voice tiny.

Hyunjin blinked, startled. "You... know my name?"

The little boy sniffled and crawled shakily toward him, grabbing Hyunjin's sleeve with tiny fingers. "Hyunjinnie safe..." he whispered, pressing his face into Hyunjin's shirt.

"Oh my god..." Hyunjin whispered, immediately scooping him up. The child was warm and trembling, and lighter than air—literally, almost like carrying a puff of cloud. "Shh... it's okay, I got you. Let's get you inside."

He rushed to the back door and kicked it open with his foot. "Chan! Chan come quick!"

The rest of the group was gathered in the living room—Chan reading emails, Minho and Changbin sprawled on the couch, Jisung and Jeongin playing a card game, and Seungmin making tea in the kitchen.

All of them looked up at once.

"Hyunjin? What—"

"Why are you—"

"Oh my god," Minho said, standing up.

"There's a child," Hyunjin said breathlessly, holding the boy closer. "He was in the flowerbed. He has wings."

Everyone surged forward at once.

Jisung's eyes widened as he saw the wings. "Is that a fairy?"

"He's real?" Jeongin breathed. "Like... actual wings?"

Chan stepped forward and gently touched the shimmering edge of a wing. It twitched under his fingers. "He's real," he whispered. "Holy crap."

The little boy peeked up from Hyunjin's shoulder and pointed to each of them with a chubby hand. "Hyunjinnie... Channie... Binnie... MinMin... Sungie... Minnie... and Innie..." he said softly.

They all froze.

"He knows our names?" Seungmin asked.

"I don't understand," Hyunjin murmured. "He just appeared. He's hurt. I think he's scared."
