"He lost his pack... but found something even stronger."

The alley was too quiet.

"I don't like this," Jisung muttered, his fangs already half-dropped, eyes scanning the darkened path behind the coven's bar.

"You never like anything after feeding," Seungmin said, flicking ash from his clove cigarette.

"No, but this—this is different." Jisung sniffed the air, then paused. "Blood."

Chan stepped forward, coat flaring around his legs. "Old?"

"No. Fresh. Faint. But... not human."

"Then show us," Minho said quietly, already moving ahead.

They followed the scent like hounds in silence, shadows flitting past broken crates and peeling bricks until Hyunjin stopped short and pointed behind a half-collapsed stack of boxes.

A small form was curled there, shaking, breath coming in wet sobs. A child.

"What the hell..." Jeongin whispered.

The boy was tiny. No more than two. Curly, matted hair clung to his forehead. His skin was streaked with ash, blood, and dirt. His little hands were clenched into fists against his chest as he hiccupped through silent crying.

"He's not human," Changbin murmured, crouching just enough to get a better look.

"Wolf," Minho said, his voice dangerously low. "And not just any wolf."

The child looked up at them then. His eyes glowed golden in the dark, wide and terrified.

"P-pwease..." he stammered, voice babyish and trembling. "No eat me..."

Jisung blinked. "Eat you? What—no! We're not gonna eat you, little guy!"

"Me no bad... me no bad boy..." the toddler whimpered, shaking his head hard. "Me good... me promise..."

Chan stepped forward, kneeling slowly. "Hey. It's alright. We're not going to hurt you. What's your name, pup?"

The child sniffled, rubbing his snotty nose on the sleeve of his tattered shirt. "Fe-Fewix..."

"Felix?" Jeongin repeated gently. "Hi, Felix. I'm Jeongin."

Felix stared at him for a second, then looked at the others. "You... you pack?"

Minho's breath caught in his throat.

Jisung knelt down beside Chan, his voice soft. "You lost, little guy? Where's your family?"

Felix's lip quivered. He pointed behind him toward the alley's edge. "Dey... dey sweepin'... no wake up..."

"Oh no," Hyunjin whispered.

Chan stood up slowly and nodded to Minho. "Check it."

Minho vanished in a blur, silent and deadly. Seconds later, he returned, face unreadable.

"They're all dead. Mauled. Torn apart. Every wolf adult, every cub except this one."

Felix whimpered, shrinking into himself. "Me hide. Me hide wike Mama say..."

"You did good, pup," Changbin said softly, kneeling down beside him. "You're safe now, yeah?"

Minho didn't speak. He was staring. Staring at the faint silver mark under Felix's jaw. Barely visible in the moonlight.

Royal blood.

The last one.

"What is it?" Seungmin asked him quietly.
