"He fell from the sky and landed in their hearts."
The crash shook the entire house.
"What the hell was that?" Chan bolted up from the couch, nearly spilling his tea.
Jisung was already halfway to the back door, eyes wide. "Something crashed in the backyard. Like—like a meteor?"
"That was way too close," Minho muttered, grabbing a flashlight. "Come on."
They rushed outside, the cold night air biting against their skin. The backyard was lit up in a surreal glow—blue and gold light pulsing softly from a smoking crater in the ground.
"Is that...?" Seungmin trailed off, eyes locked on the center of the impact.
Jeongin stepped closer, blinking in disbelief. "There's something in there."
"No. Someone," Hyunjin whispered.
Nestled among shards of glowing crystal and bits of scorched earth was a toddler—barefoot, wrapped in torn, silvery cloth that shimmered like stardust. His eyes glowed faintly gold, wide and confused. Tiny golden freckles sparkled on his cheeks.
He looked up at them, blinking slowly. "Hewwo?"
Chan lowered to his knees, stunned. "A baby? From a meteor?"
"Hi," the child said again, his voice soft and curious. "Boom go boom." He pointed at the crater. "It go boom an' I fall."
"Oh my god," Jisung whispered. "He's... he's not burned. Not hurt."
"Hey, little guy," Changbin said gently, crouching down. "What's your name?"
The toddler tilted his head. "Name?"
Minho's voice was soft. "You don't remember?"
The boy blinked again, clearly thinking very hard. "I dunno... I falled."
"You fell, alright," Seungmin murmured, mouth still open. "From space?"
The boy smiled brightly. "Uh-huh! Boom! Then I see you! Hi!" He waved a tiny hand at them, smearing some stardust across his cheek.
Jeongin took a tentative step forward. "Can we... can we keep him?"
"Keep him?" Hyunjin laughed in disbelief. "He's not a puppy."
"But look at him." Jeongin pointed. "He's smiling at us. He's not scared. He chose us."
Chan looked down at the toddler again. The boy had crawled forward and now sat in Chan's lap like he belonged there. His little hand clutched Chan's shirt tightly.
"Felix," Chan said quietly.
The others turned to look at him.
"What?" Minho asked.
"His name. I think it should be Felix." Chan smiled as the boy looked up at him, beaming.
"Feh-licks?" the child repeated, testing it out. "Dat me?"
"Yeah," Chan nodded. "That's you, Felix."
"Feh-licks!" he cheered, throwing his arms up. "I Feh-licks!"
"He's perfect," Jisung whispered.
"We're seriously keeping the alien baby," Minho deadpanned.
"Star baby," Seungmin corrected.
"Feh-licks not baby! I big!" Felix announced proudly. "I dancin' an' singin' an' fix boo-boos!"
"Wait—what?"
