"Austin." Karlie whispered into the phone. "Taylor just fell asleep. Go get dressed and we'll go out riding. I'll meet you out front in ten minutes.
Karlie peeked in her bedroom once more to see her princess sound asleep. She went down the stairs and put on her snowsuit, scarf, creeper mask and helmet. Austin was waiting out front, ready for an adventure.
"Austin, how are you on gas?"
                              "I'm good. I have a full tank."
Karlie opened the storage container on the back of her ATV and filled it with two blankets and a bookbag filled with granola bars, bottles of water, rope, flashlights, extra batteries and a knife that looked like something out of a Rambo movie.
"Karlie, what the hell is all of this?"
"It's just in case of an emergency. Keep in mind that it's after midnight, it's pitch black outside and it's zero degrees. If we get stuck somewhere, you'll thank me for saving your dumb ass. Here's a flashlight to put in your pocket."
"What's the knife for? Are you planning on skinning a bear?"
"Ya know Austin, you're talking a lot of shit right now. If you get attacked by a coyote, you're gonna be happy I have the knife. Come on, let's go."
The two zipped through the trails and made their way to the open clearing. They practiced doing wheelie's in the snow, with Karlie being all proud of herself for being able to lift the ATV up. The two rode around for a couple of hours, finding new trails to travel down.
                              ------------
Back at the house, Taylor woke up to get a drink of water and noticed Karlie wasn't in bed. She didn't initially freak out until she was walking back from the kitchen and didn't see her boots by the front door. She went to the garage and saw both ATV's were gone.
I'm going to kill her- Taylor said to herself.
Taylor turned back to the kitchen to make a cup of tea as she decided to go back to her bedroom and look out the window, knowing eventually she would see the headlights coming up through the trail.
                              ------------------
"Hey Kar, let's go down here."
"I don't know about this. It looks pretty steep and I don't remember if this is rock or if it's just snow. If it's just snow, we'll probably kill ourselves. I think we need to stick to the areas we definitely know are ok, especially at this time of night."
"I thought you were a daredevil? Put on your big girl panties and let's go."
"Fuck you dude. I have a child on the way. As much as I love to do dangerous things, my wife will have a fit if something happens to me. If you're so confident that it's not dangerous then, have at it."
Austin just looked over at the downward hill and then back at Karlie and shouted, "YOLO!!"
He began to descend down the hill slowly but became a little cocky, deciding to pick up speed and show off. He found out quickly that only part of the hill was actually rock. Karlie saw his headlights become erratic with lights shining in different directions as she heard a blood curdling scream.
                              "AUSTIN!! AUSTIN!!"
"KARLIE, I'M STUCK. I THINK I BROKE MY LEG."
