Days had passed since Taylor left. Although she called Karlie everyday, it was mainly to check in on Mikayla. With everything that had gone on, Karlie was really finding her balance with taking care of her daughter and going to work. Each day the little one joined her in the office. Sean and Tom came with them daily. Tom was posted outside in the main lobby area and Sean was the babysitter who kept Mikayla entertained when Karlie had meetings.

Even with a daycare being built right into their building, Karlie didn't trust anyone watching her daughter after the kidnapping ordeal. It put her mind at ease to know that Sean was with her. The baby had a trunk of toys in Karlie's office to play with but the model also had a small room built right off of her office that contained a crib, rocking chair and a couch, just for the baby to have somewhere comfortable to sleep.

It was Thursday morning and Karlie was getting herself and the baby ready to go into the office. They had finished breakfast a short time ago and Karlie was already dressed. All that was left was to get Mikayla dressed and off they'd go.

"Come on bean, we have to go to work.

Mikayla extended her arms for Karlie to pick her up. The model placed her on the changing table where she put a fresh diaper on her and a cute little outfit.

"Nooo. Elsa mama."

"Bean, Elsa? Really?"

Karlie introduced the movie Frozen to her daughter a few nights ago and like most young children, the little one now had a fixation on the leading character Elsa. Karlie had taken her to the Disney store and bought her the Elsa gown and since then, Mikayla hasn't wanted to wear anything else.

"Ok bean, but just today."

Karlie sat her daughter up and slipped the dress over her head. While she was getting dressed, she looked at the pictures hanging on the wall. Mikayla did her normal routine. She pointed to the people in the pictures and gave the rundown of who everyone was.

"Mama, mommy, pop pop."

"You're too smart little girl but you're forgetting yourself. Who's that, that mommy is holding? That's you. Say baby."

Mikayla just looked at her mother with her big green eyes. She looked back at the picture and went through the pictures again.

"Mama, mommy, pop pop."

"Hahaha. I love you bean."

Karlie finished dressing her daughter and stood her up on the table as she wrapped her arm around the baby's legs and pointed to the pictures.

"That's mommy. Look at how pretty she is. I bet you miss her, don't you? I know I do. Hopefully mommy comes home next week. Pretty soon Santa is gonna come and bring you presents."

It bothered Karlie so much to not even have a tree up yet. They normally put one up right after Thanksgiving but they were in the Bahamas. Then with everything that went on with the pregnancy, it just wasn't something that her or Taylor were even focused on doing. Here they are two weeks from Christmas and they still had no tree. Karlie couldn't find it in herself to go buy one without her wife. Yet, the holidays were no longer just about them. It was about making memories for their daughter, to show her what family was all about. She decided that today, after work, she was going to buy a tree.

The girls met Sean and Tom in the hallway and headed down to the SUV. Jim was always excited to see Mikayla every morning, and she loved to see him too. Karlie got a kick out of how the head of security could find the inner child in himself every time he was in the baby's presence. He had bought CD's of children songs to play whenever she was in the car and would sing along as the baby kicked her feet and laughed. On a few occasions, Karlie would notice Tom and Sean quietly singing along. It was hilarious to see these three big guys, with their sunglasses on, who can physically take someone down in a matter of seconds, sit back and hum 'The wheels on the bus go round and round...round and round...round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round...all through the town."
