Karlie and her friends finished taking pictures on the red carpet and started to walk inside. Cara was being her typical funny self, skipping around and acting ridiculous, just to keep Karlie's spirits up. They still had time before having to find their seats so they mingled in the lobby with other celebrities, enjoying some wine.

"How are you gonna have wine but no shots? Like, not everyone is a lover of grapes."

"Cara, we're at an awards show, not a club. I'm shocked they're even serving wine." Lily replied. "As laid back as this show is, serving alcohol could be dangerous for those acceptance speeches."

"Hey ladies! How are you?"

The girls turned around only to be greeted by a handsome red head.

"Hey Ed." Karlie replied as she gave him a hug.

"Hey, it's nice to see you guys. I didn't expect to see you all here."

"Yeah, well, me neither." Karlie replied.

"There's a huge after party tonight at the club down in midtown. Make sure you come by, EVERYONE will be there."

"Count us in, Ed. We'll be there!"

"I knew I could count on you Cara. I'll see you guys there. I gotta go find my seat. Talk to you later."

Ed walked away as Karlie crossed her arms and just stared at Cara.

"Oh come on Kar, lighten up. You haven't been out in forever, it'll be fun."

"Ughh, well, I'm not making any promises that I'm going. I just don't feel like doing much of anything. Come on, let's just go inside."

Lily grabbed her friend's hand and gave it an extra squeeze letting Karlie know that it was gonna be ok.  They got to their seats, and made small talk to the people who were sitting around them. It was pretty difficult for Karlie, considering that she was surrounded by all of Taylor's friends. Everyone was still very nice and made it a point to give her a hug and say hello, but it still wasn't the same without Taylor being with her.

As the show was about to start, Behati was looking around the room and suddenly gripped Cara's arm so hard, her girlfriend let out a scream.

"Jesus babe, what the hell's wrong with you?" Cara asked as Lily and Karlie looked on.

Behati grabbed Cara's shirt and pulled her close to her face as she whispered, "Taylor just walked in and is right over there." Cara went to look up but Behati tugged on her shirt. "DON'T look, Karlie will want to know what you're looking at."

Unfortunately, it was too late. Karlie had already noticed Taylor.

"I'm leaving." Karlie stated as Lily grabbed her hand.

"What? Why?"

"Lily, Taylor just walked in. I have to go. I can't stay here. What was I thinking that her of all people wouldn't be here. This is more her event than it is mine." Karlie reached for her clutch that was nestled between her body and the chair.

The lights began to dim, signaling the start of the show.

"Kar listen, it's ok. Let's just get through the show. If you get up now, it'll be more obvious that you're bothered by her presence. I know you guys are moving on and it's hard but I'm not gonna let her run you out of anywhere. You have every right to be here too." Lily leaned over and gave her friend a hug as they all sat back and looked towards the stage.
