The day was coming to an end and Karlie hadn't received a response from any of the countless message me she had left for Taylor. She had driven by the apartment one last time and saw that the 'ticket' was no longer on the windshield. She had asked Greg, the doorman who was now on duty,  if Taylor had left the apartment at all since his shift started.
"Yes Karlie, she did. She wanted me to give this to you, if you stopped by."
Greg reached inside the podium that was by the door and pulled out the crumpled up ticket and handed it to the model.
                              "I'm sorry Karlie."
She took the paper and got back in her car. When she unfolded it, there was a message written across it.
You can stop coming by the apartment. I'd return your basket too but I was hungry and ate the cookies. If this is your way of making me fatter, than I already am, congratulations. It's working.
Karlie couldn't help but laugh. Although this wasn't an open invitation back into her wife's heart, she felt like maybe, just maybe, Taylor was softening just a little bit and this is all the model needed to give her just a little bit more hope. This made her even more determined to get back into her wife's good graces.
Karlie returned to the hotel and went to sleep. Tomorrow would be another day and she needed to do everything in her power to get her wife back.
The next morning, Karlie woke to three text messages from Lily.
                              Kar, call me.
Karlie, where are you? Are you ok?
Karlie FUCKING RESPOND TO ME. Even if you don't want to talk, just let me know you're ok.
The model knew the least she could do was respond to her friend. After all, Lily has been her rock through everything. She went ahead and responded.
Hi Lily. I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. I decided to stay in Nashville and try and win my wife's heart back. She won't talk to me but I'm not giving up. If you don't hear from me over the next few days, don't worry. I'll see you on the plane. Talk to you soon.
Karlie was shopping online and came across a giant wooden puzzle piece picture frame set. You pick out the amount of pieces you want, in whichever color scheme you like. You could then write your own personal message on each one. Each piece had a spot to include a picture. Karlie ordered eight pieces in different wood colors. She began to type the messages that she wanted to be engraved on each one.
The two center pieces were titled 'The Swift-Kloss Family.' The pictures on each piece would be of pictures of the two of them that were taken from two of their many vacations.
The next piece was titled 'True Love' and below where the picture would be it said, 'Today I married my best friend'. She knew the perfect picture for this one, it would be the one from their wedding day where they were facing each other, with their arms wrapped around one another's waist with Karlie kissing Taylor's forehead.
Another piece simply said 'Our Bean'. For now, the ultrasound picture would be used for this piece.
The fifth piece was just filed with words only, 'I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it'
The sixth piece simply had Mikayla written vertically with a spot for a picture next to it for when she was born.
The seventh piece was simply titled, 'Surprise'. This picture would be of their entire family, from Thanksgiving, when they made the announcement that they were having a baby.
The eighth piece would be titled 'Family Fun'. This picture would be of the whole family again from Christmas Eve when they were all in their holiday onesies.
Karlie put a rush on the order to have it by the day she was leaving for Europe. Since she had a night flight, she knew she'd get it in time to bring it to the apartment.
She then moved on to the stack of post-its she purchased. She wrote over 100 messages, giving all the reasons why she fell in love with Taylor. She knew the singer didn't want her to return to the apartment, but she did anyway. She placed each love note all over the door and hoped Taylor would leave the apartment soon to see them. The model stood at the door for a moment, touching it gently as she whispered, 'I love you Taylor,' before she walked away.
Several hours had passed and it was almost midnight. Karlie couldn't sleep and decided to go to the apartment. She stood at the bare door, knowing that Taylor saw all of her notes and began to knock. She heard no movement on the inside and wasn't going to use her key, so she knocked again. This time a faint 'who's there?' could be heard.
                              "Taylor it's me."
                              "Go away Karlie."
                              "Please hear me out."
Karlie sat on the floor, leaning her head against the door.
"I can't stop thinking about you. I know I hurt you and you have no idea how much I regret that. Nothing is more important to me than the magical moments you have given my life and the other day my inner 8 year old child self forgot that and I'm sorry. My actions caused you to be afraid of me and that's never what I wanted. Baby, I would never do anything to hurt you. I would never put my hands on you. Please believe that. I know I get angry and lose my temper and I'll get help. I'll go to anger management and I'll do whatever it takes to prove it to you."
Taylor sat on the floor, on other side of the door, as she silently cried into the sweatshirt of Karlie's she was wearing. She remembered when she had done this very same thing when she tried to win her wife back. The only difference was that she wouldn't be opening the door, at least not now.
"I leave for Europe in two days and I'll be gone for a week. I know you're not planning on coming with me, even though I want you to. I'll leave you alone now and give you as much time as you need. Please don't leave me. I love you so very much. Goodbye."
Taylor stood up and looked through the peephole as she watched her one true love walk away. The singer was overcome with emotion. She wondered if she was being too hard on Karlie. Maybe she should just take her back. She thought about all the what if's. What if this was the last time she heard Karlie's voice? What if the plane crashed? What if she was killed in an accident? She hated to be so morbid but she always lived by the phrase 'Live for today because tomorrow's never promised to anyone.' What if she made a mistake? She never stopped loving Karlie and deep down inside she knew her wife would never physically abuse her. But Karlie frightened her so badly, that she felt that she lost trust in her and that's what killed Taylor the most. She knew that even if she couldn't trust anyone else in her life, she'd always have Karlie and today, she feels as though she doesn't have that anymore.
