The girls landed in Nashville and we're on their way to Andrea and Scott's house. When they got to the door, Taylor went to put her key in the keyhole, but her hand was too shaky to get it in. Karlie grabbed it from her but not before kissing her lips and telling her to just take a few deep breaths. After a couple of minutes, Taylor nodded her head that she was ready to go inside.
The two entered the house as Andrea happened to be turning the corner.
                              "GIRLS!"
Taylor ran to her mother, falling against her body as she burst into tears. Her uncontrollable sobbing was all Andrea needed to see to confirm that Taylor knew. Her mom hugged her tight as she too began to cry. When Scott walked into the room, he instantly knew and just looked at Karlie. 'I'm sorry,' was all she was able to mouth to him before he turned and walked into the kitchen.
                              Karlie followed behind him.
"Scott, can I talk to you?"
                              "Sure. Have a seat."
Karlie began to play with her fingers as she said, "I know I told you that I wouldn't say anything. And initially, I wasn't going to. But, the more I thought about it, the more I knew that Taylor would never forgive either of us for taking the final months of her mother's life, away from her. I couldn't do that to her. She had to know. I'm sorry."
"Karlie, it's ok. You're right. I was trying to protect my daughter and unborn grandchild, but I realize that not telling Taylor may have been more harmful than good to her. It wasn't fair of me to ask you to keep that secret from your wife and I'm sorry that I asked you to do that."
Scott broke down at the kitchen table, as Karlie came around to the other side to console him.
                              "I'm really sorry Scott."
Meanwhile in the living room, Taylor was just devastated.
"How could you not want to tell me this, mom?"
"Taylor, I didn't want you to worry. Your dad and I thought we were doing the right thing but not saying anything. I wanted you to remember me as I am right now. I didn't want you to put added stress on your body because it could be so harmful to the baby. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner."
"Why won't you get treatment? Maybe it will work and keep you here longer. You'll get to have that much more time with your granddaughter. That's so unfair and selfish of you."
"Taylor, it's too far advanced. I made the decision to refuse treatment because it will only make me more sick from now until the the day I take my last breath. I don't want to spend the remainder of my time here, confined to my bed or laying in a hospital. I wanted to spend it, with my family, living a normal life. I know you probably don't understand that, but it's the truth. The reality is that the baby will be too young to remember me, but you won't be. I just wanted to spend time with you, doing all the things we always loved to do. I'm sorry, Taylor. My intention was never to hurt you."
Karlie walked into the living room and saw the two siting on the couch together. She wiped her eyes and walked over, sitting on the other side of Andrea as she put her arm around her shoulder. Andrea leaned her head back, against Karlie as she patted the models knee and said, "It's gonna be ok. We're all gonna be ok. Let's just make the most of our time together."
Karlie could only nod her head, as the tears just ran down her face.
"Are you going to tell Austin?" Taylor asked.
"I will. Now that you're aware, it's only fair that he know. I'll call him tonight to come over for dinner. How long will you both be in town?"
"We're not leaving, mom. We will be with you for as long as you want us here." Taylor replied.
Andrea looked at Karlie and said, "What about your work? Don't you have a show tonight? You need to be there Karlie."
"This is where I need to be, with my family." Karlie said as she hugged her mother-in-law tighter. "I just need to know where you and Scott will feel most comfortable. If you want to stay in Nashville, then we'll stay here or if you guys want to stay at one of our homes, we can do that too. I just need to know, so that we can orchestrate Taylor's doctor visits. Right now, her doctors are in LA and NY. If we stay anywhere else, we need to figure it out soon because she can't fly in two months. Just think about it and let us know."
Andrea nodded her head. Scott then walked in and walked over to Taylor, standing in front of her as he extended his arms. He helped her up and pulled her in to an embrace.
"I'm so sorry Taylor. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"I know you didn't dad. I just don't want this time to be taken away from me." Taylor replied as she cried on his shoulder.
"Come with me," Andrea said to Karlie.
The two went up to Andreas bedroom and out on the terrace.
"Go ahead and have a seat Karlie. Do you remember the first time we ever sat up here?"
                              Karlie nodded her head.
"I remember a heartbroken young woman sitting right in that chair that you're in right now. She came here, not only to give my daughter a second chance because of what happened with Dianna in London, but she also asked me why I never accepted that relationship in the first place. I poured my heart out to you that day, telling you of how I was raised and what my beliefs were growing up. I told you how I had hurt my own daughter and watched her cry for months. I came close to doing that again, just in a different way. I have you to thank for not letting that happen. You love my daughter so much Karlie and you show me that every single day with how you treat her and talk to her and just all the kind, loving things that you do for her. I am so happy that she found you and no matter what the two of you have been through, I'm glad you both stuck it out and make your marriage work everyday. I don't know how much longer I'm going to be here, but the one thing that I am truly content with is knowing that when I'm gone, Taylor still has you. Thank you for loving her the way she deserves to be loved. You're like a daughter to me, Karlie and you're the best thing that ever happened to her."
Karlie knelt beside Andrea, pulling her into an embrace, as Andrea cried on her shoulder the same way she did the first time they were on this terrace.
"I'll always love and protect her Andrea. I give you my word."
Taylor stood silently as she looked at the two from the bedroom. Her two favorite people in the whole world were right before her eyes and she knew that in only a few months, only one would remain.
