Karlie ran for her phone that was ringing non stop.

"Hello?"

"Hey Kar, why are you out of breath? Wild sex?"

"Yeah, ok Lily. I haven't gotten laid in over a month. My wife is hardly talking to me."

"Kar, what are you talking about?"

"Oh Lil, it doesn't even matter anymore. My wife is having a meltdown and she doesn't want me anywhere near her. She thinks I'm having an affair with the cashier at the grocery store. Whatever. I'm just dealing with it. I know she's not herself these days and that there's different levels of grief. I'm still crazy in love with her but I'm giving her the space she wants. I sent her and Selena on a weekend getaway to the Pagosa Springs in Colorado. They left this morning."

"Kar, are you ok?"

"I'm fine. I'm not gonna get crazy. I didn't do anything wrong except be there for her. I'm not sure what she wants from me but when she's ready to interact with me again, I'll be here. I'm not running Lily. I did that in the past and I won't do it again. I've broken that promise one too many times, I won't break it again."

"I don't like this, Karlie. I mean, I commend you for staying and being supportive but it's not fair that she thinks you cheated."

"Yeah well, life isn't fair. In all seriousness Lily, I'm not stressing over it. I didn't do anything. I have nothing to hide. Right now, Taylor's state of mind is all over the place. She's gonna believe what she wants to believe. I'm not sure how to convince her otherwise. Anyway, enough about that. How are you?"

"I'm tired of traveling. I'm really thinking about retiring. I miss my daughter and husband too much."

"I'm moving forward with opening a modeling agency. It's going to be based in NYC. IF, you decide to leave modeling, would you ever consider maybe being a modeling scout in the Nashville area? Maybe flying into the city a couple times a month for staff meetings, of course children will be allowed since we'll be including a state of the art childcare area for the employees with children."

"Kar, are you serious?"

"I am."

"Oh my God Karlie, yes. Of course I would. That would be a dream job, are you kidding me."

"Well, then you're our first official employee!"

"So, I was pretty surprised to get a call from Karlie." Selena said as the two were on their way to Colorado.

"Yeah, she's full of surprises." Taylor replied.

"Everything ok, Tay? You've been really quiet since we left."

"Yeah Sel, I'm fine. I'm just missing my daughter, that's all. I hate being far from her. Do you mind if I nap the rest of the way? I'm kinda tired."

"Yeah sure. Go ahead. That's not a bad idea. Maybe I'll take a little nap too."

The flight wasn't a long one but it felt like it. Taylor wondered why she even bothered going. She much rather be at home with Mikayla. After two and a half hours, the girls finally landed. They made their way to the waiting SUV and headed to the resort. When they were taken to their room, Selena was in awe as to how beautiful it was.

"Wow, Tay, Karlie really went all out for us. This is gorgeous."

"Yeah, it's very pretty."

Taylor called her wife to check in on the baby.

"Hey babe. Did you make it to the resort?"

"Yeah. The room is very pretty. How's Mikayla?"

"She's perfect as usual. I just gave her a bath and now she's playing in her crib, talking to her stuffed animals."
