A week and a half has passed since they returned from the Bahamas. Scott is watching Mikayla while Karlie and Taylor go to the doctor.

"I'm nervous Kar."

"What's there to be nervous about. You're gonna be fine. Dr. Mabry is awesome anyway."

"I know but like, what if there was a mistake and I'm not pregnant?"

Karlie grabbed both of her wife's hands as she stood in front of her and said, "Well, then we will get through it like we do everything else. But I don't want you to worry because there's no reason to be. Come on babe, let's get to our appointment."

Karlie kissed her wife gently as they left the apartment and got in the waiting SUV. Within twenty minutes, they were pulling up to the building and were soon in a waiting room.

"Will you sit with me?"

Karlie was more than happy to climb on the table, and sit behind her wife, holding her in her arms as she kissed the top of her head.

"Tay, you're freezing."

Karlie reached over to grab her bomber jacket that was laying on the chair and draped it over her.

"Thanks Kar."

A few minutes later, Dr. Mabry walked in.

"Well, hello ladies. I'm glad to see that nothing has changed since the last time I saw you. So, I got all of your records forwarded to me from the doctor you saw in St. Louis and so far everything looks good. I'm gonna do a vaginal ultrasound today to confirm there's a baby sac and we'll be able to determine how far along you are. Karlie, I'm gonna need Taylor to lay flat on the table, so unfortunately you'll have to move, but you can sit next to her and hold her hand."

Karlie slid out from under her wife and held her hand as the doctor was getting ready to perform the procedure.

"You're gonna be fine." Karlie whispered as she kissed her wife's forehead.

"Ok Taylor, the wand may be a little cold. So let me apologize in advance for that. Are you ready?"

"Yes." She replied.

The doctor began the process and was focusing intently on the screen, looking for any signs of life. Taylor and Karlie were also looking but everything looked foreign to them and therefore, could only rely on what the doctor said.

"Ok, well, I can see a sac and based on the size, it looks like you're about five weeks along. However, there is no sign of a heartbeat yet. This isn't necessarily uncommon because you are so early on. I'm gonna need you to come back in a week, so we can check again."

"Is there a good chance that we'll hear one next week?" Taylor inquired with tears in her eyes.

"Like I said, this isn't uncommon. I know it's hard to hear this, but I can't have you stressed. That will only cause stress on the baby and we don't want any complications. Karlie, your job is to keep her relaxed as possible. I want to see you back here one week from today, same time. I'll leave you to get dressed."

The doctor left as Taylor covered her face with her hands and began to cry.

"Hey, come here." Karlie said as she lifted her wife up to a seated position and hugged her. "Tay, don't cry. I know how much you want another baby and so do I. Everything is gonna work out. Come on, let's go home."

A few minutes later, Taylor was dressed and the two walked out to the car hand in hand. The ride home was quiet, as the singer rested her head on Karlie's shoulder, holding her hand as Karlie drew the infinity symbol with her thumb against her skin.
