“You still love Harry, I know it.” was the first thing I heard when I woke up the next morning. “Oh, C’mon.” Louis’ voice was raspy from yelling and from it being early. My head was throbbing when I awoke. What happened last night?
“It was a drunken action.” Layla’s voice was next to fill my ears. “Let’s talk in private, please Louis.”
“No, everything you need to say to me, you can say to them.” I wasn’t sure who he was referring to as I was in a different room. Room. Where was I? I looked around which seemed to be Layla’s house. I was in her room, so I’m guessing the rest of the gang was downstairs in the basement. I looked more to my left and saw Liam waiting for me to wake up.
“Morning Skylar.” He bluntly greeted me.
“Morning Liam. What’s going on?” I asked, then put both hands over my temples. “What happened last night?”
“Well, you girls slept here since Layla and Amelia had been drinking, while the guys and I slept in a hotel a few minutes away. In the middle of the night, Layla snuck out to see Louis, but only Harry was awake.” He paused to let me absorb the information. “Layla wanted to stay by Harry, but Harry insisted on driving her home. Layla didn’t like the sound of that, so she tried to hook up with Harry.”
“What?! How could she do that to Louis and Amelia?” Was all I could say at the moment.
“Layla claimed she was in love with Harry and not Louis anymore last night. When Harry told Louis this morning, he went off on her, which is still what’s going on now.” Liam finished explaining everything to me.
“Thanks for the information Li. Where’s Niall?” I asked him.
“He went out to get some food about an hour ago.” He told me.
“So he doesn’t know about any of this?” I asked him, and he shook his head. “Well I’d like to say good morning to everyone, but first could we get some aspirin?”
“Sure thing Skye. I’m not so sure you want to go down there though, things could get ugly, especially if you have a headache.” Liam explained to me.
“I want to hear it all. That’s what I usually do when they fight. I‘ve only read the group chat fights, though.” I told him, then we left to get aspirin.
When Liam opened the door to go downstairs, there was a loud bang from the basement. “What the hell was that?” Liam ran down the stairs in front of me. The next thing I saw, was Amelia running out the door, crying. I immediately ran after her, but was almost knocked over by Harry running as well. I finally caught up with the couple in the driveway, where Harry was hugging Amelia, both in tears.
“Guys! What happened in there?” I asked, out of breath. Amelia, who was wrapped in Harry’s arms managed to answer me in between sobs.
“Layla explained her side, then Harry explained his. I stood up for Louis getting mad at Harry when he did nothing wrong. Then, Layla got really upset about me sticking up for my boyfriend, and punched the wall, just missing Harry’s head as well as mine. I didn’t want to get hurt, so I ran out, with Harry right behind me.” Amelia explained herself.
“Mel, I’m so sorry about what happened. You too Haz. What was Layla thinking?” I asked the couple.
“That’s the problem, she wasn’t.” Harry answered my question. Just as he finished talking, Niall pulled into the driveway. He immediately saw Amelia crying and jumped out of the car and ran towards us.
“What’s going on?” He anxiously asked, then turned to me and gave me a kiss on the forehead. “Good morning babe.” Harry explained everything that’s been going on and Niall’s face just dropped. “I cannot believe that happened.”
“I wish it didn’t.” Amelia stated. We all began to walk back inside and downstairs to where the brawl was happening, and sat down on the couch. Layla and Louis were still going back and forth about how Layla was still in love with Harry.
“Please Louis! Believe me when I say it was just a drunken mistake.” Layla cried.
“How can I believe something that’s not true? I’m pretty sure that if you were sober, you would’ve done the same thing. It’s not like we’re dating or anything. Excuse me, were dating.” Louis yelled the loudest I’ve ever heard him.
“I never said that I would’ve, now stop putting words in my mouth. You want to break up, fine by me. It’s not like I loved you in the first place.” Layla practically screamed at me. After she said that, you could tell that she completely regretted it.
“Oh really? You never loved me. That’s just what I want to hear from someone I was madly in love with. You know I was so happy when Niall first had that FaceTime session with Skylar because I thought I had met the love of my life at that moment. I even took you back after everything with Harry the first time and this is how you treat me? Glad to know I was just a back up plan. Goodbye Layla.” Louis cried, then ran out the door.
Layla began to run after him, but the guys stopped her. “Let us go.” Niall said, leaving my side to go talk to their friend. I nodded as the three guys left to help their friend, then looked at Amelia to see how we should help ours.
“Layla? Are you okay?” I asked her, my voice soft. She ignored me, but wasn’t crying or anything. “Layla, pl--”
“Get away from me.” She blurted out.
“Layla, you ne--” I tried to talk to her again, which is when I felt her backhand collide with my right cheek.
“Layla Rhineheart, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” I heard Amelia’s voice scream.
“What do you think? I told her to get away, and she didn’t. Now she’s been paid with the consequences.” Layla said with a straight face, no remorse shown.
“So you think you can just slap your friend? After she tried to help? After your boyfriend dumped you from a dumbass mistake you made when you were drunk? There is no excuse to hurt another person, let alone a friend.” Amelia yelled at her, which made Niall and Harry run back down the stairs.
“Now what happened?” Harry asked. Niall ran over to me, seeing me lying on the floor, holding my face in pain. Well, this isn’t helping the headache. Since Layla wasn’t responding to anything, Amelia answered for her. “Layla what the hell were you thinking?”
Again, no response. “Harry, how’s Louis doing?” Amelia asked him.
“He’s completely heartbroken.” He told her, then walked over to Layla. “You really hurt him, you know that, right?” No response. “I just need you to know that even though we’re good friends, does not mean that I love you like that. Good friends now, I don’t think is the best situation. I’m sorry Layla, but I can’t be friends with someone who hurts my best friend like that, then doesn’t even say sorry.”
Harry stopped to let her think about it, then continued talking. “Look Layla,” he grabbed her hand, which made her finally look up from the ground, “I don’t love you like you want me to. You’re more of a sister, just like Skylar is. I can‘t be in love with a sister Layla. I also cannot do this to my best friend.”
“So that’s how you think of me, like a sister? I risked all of this to get you Harry, and you think of me like a sister? Really?” Layla snapped at him.
“Feels bad, huh? Know who else feels like this, if not worse? Louis.” Harry told her.
“I really hurt him, huh?” Layla looked up into Harry’s eyes, then leaned in for a kiss, eyes closed. Harry put his hand in front of her lips.
“I can’t do that Layla, I’m sorry.” Harry told her, weakly smiling.
