“Jade I’m so sorry, but I’m not going to make it to your play. I definitely owe you one. Good luck though! Bye!” I left her a voicemail on her phone.
“No luck?” Layla asked me, but I shook my head. We were sitting in the lobby of the hospital while the guys were rehearsing for their benefit concert tonight. It was about five o‘clock in the evening and we had spent all morning taking tests and getting examined. “I wish we could go tonight.”
“Me too, Lay. But we’re doing it through Skype! That’s still pretty good!” I exclaimed. “Are you still telling the audience about Louis?” I asked her.
“I haven’t thought about it, but I’d like to.” She paused and looked around. “Yeah, I’m going to do it.”
“Good, I’m glad. Louis really needs to hear what you have to say. So does everyone else though. Have you checked twitter lately?” I asked her, then pulled out my phone. “There’s been so many tweets about all of this.”
“I try not to read any of it, because if there’s something in there that makes me upset, then I won’t be able to handle it. I don’t want this to happen again.” She told me.
“It doesn’t hurt me, so I don’t mind reading any of it.” I told her.
“Lucky you.” She mumbled, then we dropped the subject. “Want to go for a walk?” She asked me and I was quick to respond.
The hospital was massive, and beautiful as well. Our room was located in the children’s section, so the walls were painted in wild, vibrant colors and they all had different themes to them. It was actually really cute, and a great idea for the kids. We walked down a hallway, which was very wide, and the ceilings were very tall and there were skylights all throughout the hospital.
“This is such a beautiful hospital, Lay.” I mentioned, mesmerized by the beauty of it.
“It really is, Skye.” She kept looking at me, smiling because of how amazed I was as something so simple. “You know, you’re reminding me more and more of Niall everyday I spend with you.”
“Well we have gotten much closer while staying here together.” I smiled at her. “I think this is the closest I’ve been to someone, talking wise.”
“Yeah, I feel like I can tell you anything. I trust you.” She told me, but I stopped walking. “What’s wrong Skye?"
“You trust me?” My face lit up with joy, my eyes grew wide, and I threw out my arms waiting for a hug. Layla nodded, then hugged me. “That means a lot, you know.” I told her.
“I’m so glad I can tell you everything, it’s real nice to let everything out once in a while, you know?” She asked me and I nodded.
“Since we’re talking about this, do you remember that one night, awhile ago, where you were crying because of your parents?” I asked her, in a softer voice.
“Which one?” She said in a harsher tone.
“The one where you said they were getting divorced.” I tried to keep my voice softer, but it didn’t work as well as I wanted it to.
