Zayn's P.O.V.
With Jasper in one hand and the groceries in the other, Perrie wrapped her arms around my waist, hugging me tightly. "I missed you!" She giggled.
"I missed you too, but I'm kind of hand-filled." I chuckled rather awkwardly. I was a but confused at what was happening. She hadn't been this nice in such a long time. It was weird to see her this happy to see me. I had gotten so used to being put on the backburner, so it felt nice to have her hug me unexpectedly.
"I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, releasing me from her grasp and backing up, a wide smile spread across her face.
"It's fine," I said while walking to the kitchen. Perrie ran over to help me, and took Jasper from my arm and turned to leave the kitchen.
After stacking the cans perfectly organized in the cabinets and the food that was meant to be kept cold into the refrigerator, I walked to the garage and put away the food that was meant to be kept frozen into the freezer.
Later that day, at about 5:30 PM, I was relaxing comfortably on the couch, cuddled with Perrie."What did you get for dinner tonight?" she asked, yawning.
"I planned on making fried chicken," I said, not taking my eyes off the T.V.
"Hmmm," she hummed.
"How was your day while I was gone?" I asked, smiling down at her.
"It was okay. I talked to Jesy earlier." She returned the smile, giggling a little bit.
"That's good. I have to go to work tomorrow." Frowning, I return my gaze towards the T.V.
"I know. But, you need to do what you need to do." She spoke so nonchalantly. It was like she didn't care. Hmm, maybe I was over exaggerating the situation. I didn't question it.
"Yeah. I just wish I didn't have to work all day. But I only have a week, I guess I can't complain about it. I would just like to spend more time with you and Jasper, you know." Standing from the couch, I turned off the T.V. and stretched my tense muscles. "Well, I'm going to get dinner started. You do whatever it is you do." I winked, smiling as I walked into the kitchen. Expecting her to follow, I was surprised when I turned around to see she wasn't there. Frowning, I began to gather all the ingredients I needed.
When I finished cooking dinner, I went upstairs to get Perrie. When I opened Jasper's door after finding that Perrie wasn't in our room, I witnessed her singing to Jasper. A soft, slow melody. A nursery rhyme. Smiling at the sight, I slowly walked in behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist. I then slowly began to sing along to her, in a soothing harmony which fit perfectly.
When we finished our little "duet," Perrie faced me, smiling and mouthing a "thank you." Nodding my head I lead her out of the room, gently pulling the door ajar.
"Dinner's ready." I smiled, walking down the stairs. With Perrie following, we entered the kitchen and I pulled her chair out from the table. She sat down with a thankful smile, and I carried her plate to her, placing it gently in front of her--along with a napkin, fork, knife and wine glass. Of course, all I poured into the glass was some apple juice. Natures most innocent alcohol.
Grabbing everything I needed, I sat at the table, right beside her, just like it was before. "Let's pray." I took her hand in mine and bowed my head, closing my eyes.
"Our precious Lord and heavenly Father, we thank you for this day, and your blessing. We thank you for your love and mercy in our lives, Father Lord. We thank you for this food, and we ask that you bless it. We thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for all of our sins. In Jesus' precious name we pray, amen."
Silently, the both of us ate our food, sharing a few glances every-now-and-then. We would give each other smile smiles, giggles or chuckles, but, that was it.
However, when we finished eating, we cleaned the dishes together. We were laughing and having a great time, splashing each other with the water and just doing what normal couples do. We tried to keep as quiet as we could, as to not wake up Jasper. Thankfully, we didn't.
Whispering while laughing, I said, "I'm going upstairs." She nodded before turning around. Quietly, I tip-toed up the stairs and went into the bedroom. I lay down on the bed, yawning. It was now 7:23 PM at this point, so I was awfully tired. Normally I wouldn't be tired that early, but when you work often you get tired fast. So I was pretty much ready to sleep. I was just waiting on Perrie.
A few minutes later, I found myself dozing. Sitting up, I stand up to go take a quick shower.
When I finished and got dressed, Perrie was waiting for me in bed. Her head was in a book, and she looked very intrigued. Her hair was pulled into a nice bun and her face was clean of any makeup.
"Hey," I said, causing her to jump a little.
Closing her book, she said, "Don't scare me like that!" She threw her pillow at me and I picked it up, walking over to her. I played as though I was going to hand it to her, but as soon as she let her guard down, I hit her with it. "Hey!" She whined, annoyed.
"Okay, okay." I gave her the pillow and crawled into the bed. "Today was a good day," I said.
"It was. I wish you didn't have to work tomorrow. But, at least we got today to chill."
"Chill?" I snorted. "No one uses that word anymore." Laughing, I give her a quick kiss before turning off the lights. "Goodnight," I yawn.
"Goodnight. I love you," she said sweetly, tiredly.
"I love you too." I smiled though she couldn't see me through the dark.
That's how our night ended...one of the last happy days we ever had together.
