(Warning) GRAB A BOX OF TISSUES

I silently left the bedroom, taking Jasper with me. As I tiptoed down the stairs, I watched Zayn as he slept on the couch. He had a deep frown on his face and his brows were furrowed as though he'd been having a bad dream. I grabbed my car keys and quietly unlocked the front door, slipping out. Locking it back up, I turned on my heel and walked to my car.
Jasper and I were settled in the car so I pulled out and drove down the road.
-----
We were sitting in the park on a spread out blanket. Jasper was playing with blocks and I was just watching him as well as what was going on around us. A couple, a few feet from us, was holding hands with big smiles on their faces. They were watching the doves from the pond. A few kids were playing on the swings and slides. Some people even had their dogs on leashes as they walked them around.
I gently brushed my fingers through Jasper's hair, smiling at him. From the corner of my eye, I realized a figure walking towards Jasper and I. I looked over at the person, and was soon taken over by the utmost annoyance.
"Are you following me or something?" I asked in anger, pulling Jasper to me.
He folded his arms over his chest, smirking in amusement. "No, dear, of course not. I was over there," he pointed to some monkey bars, "just...hanging around, y'know?" He laughed at his own stupid joke.
"What do you want now?"
"Well, I want to say sorry for not giving you your space. I should've got the hint from the beginning. I get it, you love your husband and I should respect your wishes." He had sat down now, not on the blanket but in the grass.
"I forgive you." I smiled. "Besides, we don't have to be together. We can be friends. That's fine." Something flickered in his eyes before fading away. I couldn't recognize what it was because it went away as fast as it came.
"I'm so glad you feel that way." For the first time in a long time, he actually smiled.
"Well, I won't be home for a little while. Why don't you hang around over here? Just the three of us. No funny business." I spoke seriously at the end.
"No funny business." He declared. I looked at the time on my watch. It was 9:47 in the morning now. The sun wasn't shining too harshly. It was pretty relaxing. We just talked for a long time, about any and everything. From the times before Zayn and I reconnected, to the times we were always arguing, to this very second. How crazy it was.
It was 3:27 when he and I decided to get lunch. We went to a diner Zayn never been to, that I knew of because I went here all the time and never saw him, and we got seated. Jasper was in a highchair.
"So, what are you getting?" I asked him, not bothering to read a menu. I knew what I was getting.
"What do you normally eat here?"
"I normally have the pancakes topped with butter, whip cream and blueberries. Sometimes I get a side of bacon and eggs, but I'm just getting the pancakes today." I replied, playing with Jasper.
"Breakfast for lunch?" he questioned.
"Breakfast for lunch, yes. The breakfast here is amazing, no joke." I played a fake drum beat on the table and he eyed me as if I were crazy.
