Danny ran home as if his life depended on it. He burst through the front door, tears flying down his face, and ran to his room, leaving the front door wide open. He had lost Adam. He was never coming back. Danny sobbed as he punched his pillow, screaming in agony. He had lost everything. It wasn't fair! Why did Randy get to destroy his life?
Chance came to his door and mewed. Jake looked at him with fear. He settled down and looked at the kittens. They were shaking with fear. He must have looked like a monster to them. He bent down and pet them gently. Chance began to purr and Jake rubbed against his arm. He smiled and understood why Adam loved cats so much.
He laid down on his bed, feeling dead and wishing he was, as the kittens curled up next to him and fell asleep. A few more tears fell from his cheeks and Jake quickly licked them away.
That only made Danny cry more. Danny couldn't take it. He thought of all the names he had been called, of all the texts he'd received, and of all the people who had pushed him. He didn't understand. He wasn't doing anything wrong. He closed his eyes and wished for death. When he opened his eyes again, he saw a bottle of ibuprofen he had for when he got headaches.
He got up and made his way to the bottle and held it in his hand. 'This is it. This is my death,' he thought to himself. He walked into the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. He looked scary with tear streaks down his face and his large puffy eyes.
Slowly, he turned on the sink and filled up a cup. He poured a handful of the ibuprofen in his hand and stared at them. This was it. No more pain, no more crying.
