She sat in his bedroom, curled up in a fetal position, heartbroken. He was gone, gone. And he wasn't coming back this time.
Kreacher appeared, and set a tray down in front of her.
"For you, Mistress. Must keep up your strength."
"Thank you, Kreacher. But I'm not hungry." She told him. Kreacher sighed. He may have been a bitter house elf, but Karina had been kind to him. She respected him as an individual, and actually gave him some of Madame Black's old things. Plus, she was pureblood. That helped a lot in his case on wanting to take care of his new mistress, especially now that Sirius was gone.
Karina didn't touch the tray, not even when Kreacher left. She hadn't eaten or drank much of anything in the last two weeks since Sirius died. She'd just apparated to Grimmauld place, ran into his bedroom, and locked the door, staying there.
She felt as though she'd gone mad. This couldn't be happening to her. She often cried, begging for Sirius, James, someone to come to her rescue and bring her back. She couldn't do it alone. And then there was Harry...
She'd left Harry behind at the Ministry, hoping that Remus, or Molly would take him in. He couldn't be sent to Petunia and Vernon now, and she was in no shape to care for him. Not with what she was feeling now, and what might be happening inside her. If Harry was left alone because of her...
That was when she heard soft voices downstairs, and someone walking around . Someone who didn't sound like Kreacher. Kreacher had small, soft, steps that he did to be quiet for Karina, believing she was in a delicate state. These steps were soft, but heavy footed, as if the walker was on a mission, and didn't want to be found. And, there were multiple people.
Karina sat up and looked towards the locked door, frightened. What was going on? Was someone in the house that wasn't supposed to be? She backed up against the bed, her knees drawn to her chest, looking around for her wand as the steps carried up the stairs, . She had thrown it somewhere in a fit of raging sorrow, and didn't know where she had thrown it. That was when there was a soft knocking at the door.
"Go away!" She cried out, standing and running to the back wall, where she found her wand sitting on the pillow. She picked it up and pointed it at the door. "I'm armed, and dangerous and... really, really cross!"
"Yeah, like I don't already know that."
"Remus?" Karina lowered her wand a bit, then she raised it back up as she heard the door open. "Don't come in here! Leave me alone! Go!" But the door opened, and it wasn't just Remus, but Arthur, Mad-Eye, and Kingsley.
"Karina, come on now. You can't stay here your whole life." Remus said gently, coming into the room slowly. She kept her wand trained on him.
"Back. Off. Remus." She growled. "I'm staying here, and you're not stopping me."
"Expelliarmus." Karina's wand flew, and landed in Kingsley's hand.
"Dammit." She muttered, Remus coming over slowly, as if she was a wild animal. As soon as he came close enough, Karina kicked him in the stomach and jumped over the bed, running past Arthur and being cornered by Mad-Eye and Kingsley.
"Come on, Karina, just come with us!" Kingsley told her. "We'll take you to Harry!"
"What! No! I can't be around Harry right now!" She told him, scared as she backed into Arthur, who took by the shoulders and tried to lead her out the door. "I can't! Let me go!"
