"I can't just leave you guys!" Oliver cried, the tears running hard down his cheeks.
"Oliver, sweetie." Harmony went over and put her hands on his shoulder. "We don't want you to leave either. But its time."
"You've said over and over again that you were going to grow up and live your life in the other world." Swaine told him. "This gives you an excuse to keep on doing it."
"We'll always be there for you though, Oliver." Aaliyah told him. "We promise." Oliver wiped away some tears that had slipped down his cheeks.
Oliver looked around the room at all of the people who cared about him. The people he had traveled with, and helped save. They had been a part of him since he was ten years old.
It was them, who had traveled all the way to the Ivory Tower, even if their journey to save his mother had been a waste of time.
It was them, who had traveled with him to stop Senkrad and had stayed there when he died.
They helped him defeat the Black Sorceress and give the Doctor back his TARDIS.
They were the ones who had been put under such torture by Selenia, but still stood by him and helped him find his father in the end.
And it was them, who had been through one last adventure with him.
"You've all been there for me." He told them, his voice thick. "Ever since I was a kid." He sniffed. "But now. Its time for me to grow up." Esther wiped her eye, and Harmony smiled, her eyes watering.
"Don't grow up too fast, now." Nichole teased. "I can only come back every full moon. Too much happens, too much to tell them." Oliver choked out laughter, more tears trickling down.
"I'm never going to forget you guys." Esther ran over to him, hugging him tight, tears falling from her eyes as well.
"I'm going to miss you, Oliver." She sniffed, before pulling away. "Thank you, for restoring my heart. Take good care of Myrtle." Oliver nodded.
"I promise." Swaine came up next, slightly reluctantly, and patted Oliver's shoulder.
"Good luck, kid." He told him heartily. "Thanks for giving me back some restraint. Make sure Sam doesn't get himself hurt." Oliver chuckled, before pulling Swaine into a great big hug.
"No problem, Swaine. Thanks for being the big brother I always needed." Swaine was a bit surprised by the hug, but slowly hugged Oliver back, smiling as a single tear trickled down his cheek.
Aaliyah came over next, a small box in her hand. She held it out to Oliver as she approached him. "Here, take this." She told him. "For whenever you miss us." Oliver nodded, taking the box and putting it away in his Bottomless Bag. "Watch out for Joe and Grace for me." She told him. "And the baby." Oliver nodded.
"I will." Then the two that had been raised in one world and had come from another, hugged one last time, before Aaliyah walked away, allowing Harmony and Marcassin to come over. Oliver didn't know what to say. This, was his sister, the woman who had seen his mother leave their world permanently. She had been his shoulder to cry on in this world. She had vowed to protect him from anything. And now he would never see her again.
Harmony reached out and hugged Oliver tighter than she ever had before, and Oliver felt the rare wetness of tears fall onto his shoulder from her eyes. Once again, he had driven her to tears."I'm going to miss you so much, Ollie." She whispered, her warm breath against his ear. "Thank you. Thank you, so much. For everything." Oliver sniffed, feeling the burning tears fill his eyes again.
"I'm going to miss you too, Harmony." Harmony pulled away from and buried her face in Marcassin's shoulder, hiding the tears that kept falling. Marcassin himself shook hands with Oliver.
"Take care, Oliver." He told him, and Oliver nodded.
"You too. Keep an eye on her for me." Marcassin nodded back, and they backed away. This left one person.
"Mr. Drippy?" Drippy was facing away from Oliver, his tiny arms crossed. "I'm sorry, but you can't come with me." Drippy dropped his arms and turned around.
"I know, mun." He told him, walking over. "Its just hard to say goodbye." Oliver smiled, then picked Drippy up and hugged him gently.
"Thanks for calling me a cry baby." Drippy hugged him back.
"Thanks for crying all over me, Bunting. Have a good life, Ollie-boy." Oliver looked at all of the people who cared about him more than anything in this world one last time, then cast Gateway for the final time, the spell calmer than it had been in a long time, then sighed.
"Rest of my life. Here I come." Then he walked in the tube of light, and found himself hitting the scratchy carpet of his living room hard.
"Oliver!" At once, he was surrounded by Melody, Sam, Grant, and Myrtle. He smiled dizzily at their incredulous faces.
"You chose this world." Melody said, tears of joy brimming in her eyes. "After everything that's happened, you chose us!" Oliver nodded.
"Yeah, I did. I chose to grow up." He looked directly at Myrtle. "This is where my future is." Tears slid down Myrtle's cheeks, and Oliver found her arms around his neck and her lips on his.
