As Lucy headed into the arena for her day of work, she looked around anxiously, hoping that Kasumi might appear as she spoke to Jason about the article they had to write for the final day of the Grand Magic Games. Kasumi had promised that she would watch the games with Lucy no matter what, but Lucy had lost hope by now. After all, she'd made a lot of promises lately. Why would she keep the last one?
"In that case, I'll handle the article and layout for you." She told Jason as they walked towards their seats.
"You're a life-saver." he told her, as a man passed by Lucy, and she had to do a quick double take, just to make sure that the red haired man who had just passed her didn't have pink hair like she had thought, or rather hoped. But why would he show up after all this time? He didn't even say good bye before. "I gotta say... this year's Grand Magic Games aren't exciting at all." Jason told her, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Sabertooth, Lamia Scale, and Mermaid Heel aren't even competing."
"Neither is Blue Pegasus or Quatro Cerberus." Lucy reminisced on the teams of her first Grand Magic Games with a sad smile.
"Not to mention Fairy Tail." Jason told her with a sideways glance, and she just braced her smile and shrugged.
"Yeah, they're not a guild anymore." That was when Jason noticed.
"That emblem on your hand..." Her eyes went wide, her cheeks turned pink, and she felt her face go warm, remembering she still had the Fairy Tail emblem on her hand. She didn't know how to explain it to him, but he had already moved on with his own thoughts. "But, yeah, they're not a guild anymore. It's such a shame." he told her as he walked away from her, leaving her to remember how much she missed her old guild mates.
She would never tell anyone about the past year she had spent on searching for her friends, her family. Over the years, she had lost contact with every single one of them. Everyone moved on with their own lives, and it felt like they had forgotten about her. Natsu and Happy had gone first, not even waiting around for Gramps to make the official announcement that the Guild was disbanding. Slowly but surely, everyone else stopped visiting and writing and meeting up. Bisca and Alzack, Mirajane, Elfman, and Lisanna, Wendy and Carla, Erza, Gray, and even Kasumi and Lyla. She remembered how heartbroken Kasumi had been when she realized Natsu had left her behind, and she had tried to stick with Lucy as much as possible. Though she was of course clingy, Lucy appreciated her sticking around the longest. She even still sent letters, telling her about her recent training and how much progress she was making, but even her letters were becoming more and more scarce as time went on.
And Lucy missed them. Every single one of them.
When she and Jason reached their seats to watch the games, she snapped out of her trance. She knew she had to focus in, otherwise her article would've been a bust.
"It's the final day of the Grand Magic Games!" The announcer called to the excited crowd. "Fiore's greatest guild will at last be decided! I'll be on play-by-play while Mr. Yajima provides commentary."
"Hello."
"And we're joined today by good ol' Mato!"
"Good to be here, Pumpkin!"
"Dullahan Head, led by the overwhelming powerful Chrisark, has reached the finals!"The crowd roared for the Dullahan Guild. They were the favored to win this year, and there was no doubt that they were going to become the strongest guild in all of Fiore!
