"Padfoot!" James knocked on the door to Sirius's house. "Come on! You said you'd help me practice Quidditch!" Nothing. James sighed, but walked into the house and saw Sirius in the gap that led to the kitchen. He was pacing back and forth, and every once and while, he would peer into his hand. "Pads?" Sirius jumped at James's voice.
"James! I didn't see you come in!" James nodded.
"Yeah, sorry." Then he looked at Sirius's hand, which was clutching something tightly. "What's that?" Sirius quickly hid it behind his back.
"Nothing." James smirked, and came closer, reaching for the object.
"Come on, Padfoot, let me see it!"
"Sod off, Prongs!" Sirius held the object high above his head, backed against the wall. James, however, didn't give up. He ran at Sirius, grabbed his shoulder, hoisted his foot up on Sirius's belt, reached up, and grabbed the object, before losing his balance and falling to the ground, along with Sirius's pants.
"Give that back!" Sirius jumped on him, knocking him onto his stomach, and the small object flew out of James's hand and opened to reveal it was a ring box with a sparkling blue ring inside of it!
"Whats it say on the band?" James asked, scooting forward, needing to slip out of his coat since Sirius was laying on top of it.
"Don't read it!" Sirius begged, but James was way ahead of him.
"To Karina. Let memories be with you always. Sirius. April 9th, 1979" James gasped, and grinned back at Sirius. "I don't believe it! You're going to propose to Foxtrot!" Sirius slammed a hand over James's mouth.
"Shut up!" But James kept talking.
"When are you going to do it?" Sirius sighed.
"Tonight, at the graduation. I'm going to propose to her at the banquet." James stretched his arm back and tried to pat Sirius's back, but accidentally patted his bum.
"Congratulations, mate." Sirius smiled.
"You're not mad? Cause, I kind of need your blessing." James looked back at him, eyebrows furrowed.
"Mad? Mate, I'm thrilled! You're finally really going to be my brother! of course you can have my blessing!" Then he looked back and studied the date. "Whats the date for?"
"It was when we had our first kiss." Sirius told him. "I'll never forget it, and I didn't want her to either." That was when Remus walked in, having also knocked, but having not been heard. When he saw them, he only sighed.
"I mean, Padfoot, you warned us against coming in incase you were in your boxers, but I never quite expected this."
"Its not what it looks like." Sirius told him, pulling James's arm off of him, which had been resting on his bum.
"Sirius is proposing to Karina tonight at the graduation banquet!" James told him as Sirius stood up, pulling his pants back up and James fixing his coat.
Remus's eyes went wide. "Really?" He asked. Sirius nodded, and Remus's scarred face broke into a grin. "Congratulations, mate!" Sirius smiled back. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.
