Previously, on All My Friends Are Heathens...

"So Decker, who are you going to the dance with?" I asked him as the girl who had asked Elijah ran off to her friends, giggling.

"I don't have a date." He told me. "I was actually hoping..." He seemed reluctant to continue his sentence.

"Hoping... What? That I have learned to read minds to figure out the rest of your sentence?" I asked him. "Come on, tell me!" Decker took a deep breath.

"Well, I was hoping that you would actually go with me. As a friend." My eyes widened.

"Oh. Um, okay, sure. Lets go to the dance. As friends."

Now...

As I pinned my hair back with a flower and looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel beautiful. Maybe Decker and I could be in the running for cutest couple, even though we weren't a couple.

That was when I heard a knock from the front door, and heard Decker's voice after it opened.

"Hi, Mr. Blood. Is Amber ready?"

"Amber, ready to go?" My dad called down the hall, and I teetered out of my room and into the front room, completely unstable in my heels, though they weren't very tall.

"Yeah, yes!" I called, pitching forward and catching myself on the wall. "I'm ready! I'm coming!"

"Amber, you okay?" Dad called.

"Yes! Yes, I am okay! I am okay!" I called. "Just, trying to get used to these heels!" I could hear both of them laughing. "Shut up, its not funny!"

"Decker!" I heard Charlie shouting. I laughed when I heard an "oof!" From Decker, signifying to me that Charlie had jumped on him.

"Charlie, you're too big for that, buddy!" Decker told him in an out of breath way.

Soon, I managed to stagger out into the living room, and Dad, Decker, and Charlie looked over, and their eyes went wide. "What do you guys think?"

"You look lovely, honey." Dad told me.

"You have a flower growing out of your head." Trust Charlie to say something dumb.

I looked to Decker. "Decker?" He looked speechless.

"You look... Beautiful." He told me slowly, and I felt my cheeks heat up. "Oh! I've uh, I got something for you." He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small box. Inside the box, contained a little white, flower corsage!

"Decker!" I gasped. I'd never been given a corsage! "Its beautiful!" Dad chuckled, before pulling out his phone.

"Alright, lets have a few pictures! Sherry wants some!" Decker and I posed for a few photos, then he waved us goodbye.

"If I don't come back, I'm at Kelly's!" I called as we hurried out the door. I was already planning a girls' night with them after the dance. I'd been hanging out with the guys a little too much, and Kelly, Maddie, Cici, and I were planning on finding some frat party and getting into a bit of trouble tonight!
