Hidden away in the home of Lucius Malfoy, Voldemort knew of a force to be reckoned with. A force strong enough to have witness the Killing Curse in action, yet not even own a scar.
Karina Potter. The girl he had faced when nearing his dying hour, now the woman who protected Harry Potter.
Killing her would not suffice. No, the foolish woman must pay for the wrongdoings that she had done that night, many years ago. She would suffer. She would suffer greatly.
"Wormtail." Wormtail scurried over like the vermin he was. "Severus, told me of your desire of more... Powerful tasks." Wormtail fell to his knees.
"Please, my lord! I didn't mean it! I swear it! I should not have spoken such words!" Voldemort felt no pity towards the pitiful man.
"As you ask, you may as well receive." Wormtail looked up. "You know of where Karina Potter lives, don't you?"
"Of course, my lord! Used to spend many evenings in that house, I did!"
"Good. Then, the night before Harry Potter is taken from the home, I would like you to lead a force of wizards to her home, and bring her back to me."
"Please, my lord." Bellatrix said, as if pleading to a lover. "I shall lead the force to capture Karina Potter upon the night of Harry Pottter's departure."
"Very well, Bellatrix." Voldemort conceded. "Tell me, who would you believe would be a best option for the capture of the Potter Woman?" She looked around the table haughtily.
"Fenrir." She said. "MacNair. And both Malfoy men. And of course, Severus."
"Why do you presume to distrust me, Bellatrix?" Snape droned. Bellatrix sighed.
"Please, Snape. You used to follow Potter and that mudblood Evans like a little puppy dog. Trusting you was never an option."
"If I must continue to prove my loyalties to someone so cynical, so be it." Snape told her.
MARAUDER
Harry watched the clock restlessly as Karina sat in her chair, reading the Daily Prophet, grumbling under her breath every now and then. Sirius James was asleep upstairs in her room, as he kept waking up with what Karina said was "needing his diaper changed", but Harry was sure that it was because he was having the same nightmares that Harry himself was having. The same horrible, awful nightmares, being had by an innocent baby.
It less than twenty four hours away before he was taken away from his aunt's home and he didn't know if he'd ever see it again.
He looked around the house, thinking of all that had happened here. The night Karina had brought him here after his parents had died. His first real broomstick ride. Playing with Remus like he was a big puppy dog, then comforting him after the painful transformation. Coming home after his first little league Quidditch game win. Getting his letter from Hogwarts for the first time. His amazing eleventh birthday. Getting Hedwig. Sending letters home to Karina.
It all happened in this house, and he'd never forget any of it.
As the clock clicked a minute closer to eleven o' clock, Harry finally decided to head to bed. Better to sleep than to sit by the dying fire, waiting for the next day to come, where Karina would be making the house like tarnished, as if there had been a struggle.
