Diana sat in the Gryffindor common room, reading her Muggle Studies textbook, after bidding Harry, Ron,and Hermione goodnight and telling Fred and George to be careful as they snuck down to the kitchens to get some treats.
As she read, Diana began to doze off a little, soothed by the comfortable chair, the cozy blanket, the warm crackling fire, and the soft pattering of the rain outside. Even Peeves was quiet right now. Soon, she dozed off into as not as peaceful sleep. Her dreams had not improved.
She had just Floo Powdered into her living room in Godric's Hollow, where she found her father lying on the ground, dead, his eyes glassy.
"Dad! No!" She fell to her knees, sobbing. "No no no!" That was when she heard footsteps, and figured that it was You-Know-Who, on his way to finish her off like her family.
"Diana?" A familiar voice spoke, yet when she looked up, she could not see the speaker.
"P-Professor Snape?" She found herself saying, and she felt herself being pulled into a tight hug by the man himself as he materialised around her.
"Thanks goodness! I thought that he had gotten you too!" She would have found it strange, how this teacher who hated her, was hugging her and being grateful that she was alive, except she was sobbing too hard.
"Professor! He killed him! He killed my dad!" Then she gasped and looked up at him. "And Mum! Harry!" Snape shook his head sadly.
"I'm sorry, my dear. But your mother is dead. Only the baby lives." Diana found herself standing with Snape's help, shaking.
"P-please. You have to take Harry and I back to Hogwarts! You have to, please!" Snape shook his head again.
"Dumbledore has asked me not to, as that blithering oaf Hagrid is coming to take you and Harry to your mother's sister."
"Mum's Muggle sister?" Diana gasped. "No! I won't go! You traitor! You can't make me!" Snape pulled out his wand.
"I don't want to do this, Diana. But no one can know of my visit here tonight." Then he waved his wand at her. "Obliviate!" And she was thrown in a swirling tornado of smoke, and she found herself wrapped in Hagrid's coat, holding tightly onto baby Harry. She had her eyes closed, but she was still fighting for her consciousness, when she heard the sound of a motorcycle riding up, and she froze. Sirius.
"Hagrid! Hagrid, is it true?" He asked, worriedly. Fake worry Diana though bitterly.
"Saw em meself. Only the tykes, here." Hagrid told him sadly. She felt Sirius's presence before her, and felt his hand push back her bangs and cup her cheek in his hand. She knew he was smiling, just to push his act further.
"Little Diamond. She doesn't deserve this. Neither her, nor little Harry." She felt his hand pull away as he stood up. "Hagrid, please let me take them. Harry's my godson, and Diana is as good as my goddaughter. Let me take them home." Hagrid shook his head
"No can do, Sirius. I was told to take them to Little Whinging, to their aunt and uncle." She head Sirius sigh.
"Well, then take my motorcycle. I can apperate. I want too make sure they get there safe and quick." Diana's closed eyes were suddenly shrouded by smoke, and she opened them to see Peter Pettigrew and Sirius!
"P-p-please, Sirius! Don't kill me!" But Sirius just laughed evilly.
"Avada Kedavra!" Diana screamed when she saw Peter, sweet Peter, fall to the ground, dead.
"You monster!" She cried out. Sirius turned to face her, his eyes crazed.
"Don't toil with me, you little brat! The Dark Lord is back and your precious brother is dead!" Then he raised his wand again. "Avada Kedavra!"
Diana screamed again, and fell out of the chair, tangled in her blanket and her stomach landing on her book.
"Diamond! You alright?" She realised Fred and George were kneeling next to her. She sat up slowly, shuddering, when lightning flashed, and she saw Sirius Black in the window! She screamed again, and Fred pulled her close.
"Hey, hey, hey! Its okay." He said calmly. "What's the matter?" She pointed at the window.
"I-I had a nightmare about Sirius Black, and then I thought I saw him in the window!" George jumped up at once and went to check the window.
"There's no one there." He said. "Old prat must've fallen off the roof!"
"That's what he gets for scaring Diamond!" Fred retorted. Diana shivered.
"Please, don't call me that. He... He used to call me Diamond." Fred and George looked surprised, but they didn't question it. They just looked to each other and grinned.
"Hey, Georgie! Mind getting Annie's book? I'll help her up to her dorm." George came over and picked up her book.
"Sure thing, Freddie! Anything to help Annie!" Diana smiled shakily.
"Annie?" They nodded.
"Well, you don't like Diamond..."
"And since Diana's really long to say..."
"We agreed on Annie!" They said that in unison, making her giggle nervously as they walked upstairs to the girls dorm room.
"Would you three please keep it down?" They saw Hermione poking her head out the door. "Some of us have Charms exams in the morning!" Diana apologised, and Hermione shut the door again.
When they reached the fifth year dorms, Fred let Diana go and George handed her her book.
"You sure you'll be alright, Annie?" George asked her. She nodded.
"Yes, I'll be fine. Thanks, guys." Then she went into her dorm, still a little jumpy.
