They led me down a corridor and into a room marked Living Specimens, where I saw rows of cages, almost all of them empty. The ones that weren't, had my friends in them.

"Guys!" They all looked over.

"Amber!" Fang called, jumping and running over and grabbing the bars of the cage. The security guard ignored them, and pushed me towards another door. Through this door was another hallway with rooms that had windows and glass doors that showed into the room, only showing a cot with a light blue blanket and a white pillow, a small table and chair, and another door. On the cot lay a blue medical gown.

The guard opened the door and shoved me inside the room, and I saw that the windows were one way, and the other side was a mirror. Was I supposed to be some sort of lab experiment to them? I looked around, and saw three cameras, one pointed at the bed, one at the doors, and another directed in the middle of the room. They were watching my every move, all the time.

I went to the other door, and looked inside to see a small shower, a sink, and a toilet. I looked around again, and saw no visible cameras. Hopefully they weren't watching me in here. Then I'd be nervous. They were probably just watching me for some kind of mutation. Well, they were out of luck. I got nothing.

Skip!!

Three weeks. Three weeks, they've kept me in this tiny room, feeding me three times a day. My only clothes were the blue medical gowns provided to me each day with my breakfast. I slept on the cot, showered each day, just as I had before I was in here. I fell into a little routine, but I could hear almost everything going on in the room next door. I could hear shouts of pain, angry screams, snarls and growls and electricity sparking. Those were my friends being tortured in there, and there was nothing I could do about it!

I myself just lived life as normally as I could each day. I slept a lot of the time with nothing else to do. They didn't put in a TV or anything, and school was out for the summer, though I didn't expect them to bring in my schoolwork anyway. So, I was usually laying in bed, listening to my friends' pain.

Until the day we escaped.

It all happened so quickly, I can't believe I didn't miss half of it. And I didn't.

I was lying in bed, and I heard Asher pleading with one of the scientists. This was new. None of them ever pleaded. They took everything possibly, as far as I was concerned. But this time, this sounded like something Asher couldn't handle.

I heard a click, and suddenly, Fang began shouting.

"Stop! You'll kill him!"

"He needs air." Xavier's annoyingly calm voice insisted. They were drowning Asher!? Even the fish boy needed air! He was only half fish!

"Asher!" I shouted, banging on the door. Two scientists came hurrying in, I could see them through the window on the door. Usually it was covered at night, but they opened it.

"Its okay!" They called. "He'll be fine!"

"Fine!?" I shouted, punching the door again, leaving a a good sized dent in the door. "You're drowning him!"

"Miss Blood!" The other shouted, but I barely heard them. I was listening to Fang and Decker's shouts.

"Asher!"

"Get up, Ash! Come on! Get up!"

"Asher!" I punched the door again, and the metal door, the door I had been working with for a few weeks and barely made a dent in, shattered like glass beneath my fist, a red glow going along the veins of my arm all the way to my fist. The scientists hit the wall from the sheer force behind my hit. I didn't pay attention. I went to the next door and kicked it open, sending it into another scientists and sending it through the door out of the room. "Asher!" Asher was in his tank, completely submerged in water, looking like he was having trouble keeping his eyes open. I looked at my glowing red fist, and punched through the glass, the water spilling out onto the floor along with him.

"Amber!" Decker exclaimed, but I didn't pay attention as I crouched beside Asher, who coughed up water, holding his stomach.

"Ash!" I shook his arm. "You okay?" He let out a scream, scaring me. "What? What is it?"

"My arm!" He shouted, and I let go, gasping.

"I'm sorry!" I exclaimed, looking at my glowing hands. What had happened to me?

"Stop her!" I turned around, and saw security guards coming at me, one of the scientists pointing at me.

"Amber, watch out!" Fang shouted. I jumped to my feet as they came at me with the giant handcuffs that they had put around the guys. Without a second thought, I kicked them out of his hands and kicked him in the jaw with the other foot! He went down grabbing his jaw, two more guys coming at me from the sides. I threw both my fists out and got them both in the neck, hearing a terrifying snap under my fists as they both went down. I felt their necks, their spines, shatter under my fist. "Jesus!" Fang shouted, and I looked over to see that the scientist had run away. Asher was backed up against a counter, looking about as frightened as I felt by my own strength.

"What the hell have I done?" I whispered, staring at my hands, which were smoking by the way! My freaking, glowing, red, smoking hands!

"Amber..." Xavier murmured, his dark eyes on my hands. "You're a Heathen. You've got Heathen strength.
