"Oh, there you are, Hermione!" Diana found the curly haired girl in the library. Hermione accidentally tore a page out of the book she was reading, jumping at Diana's voice.
"Oh! Hello, Diana!" She said, stuffing the paper into her pocket. "Sorry, you frightened me." Diana furrowed her eyebrows, and leaned over Hermione's shoulder, seeing the book she was reading.
"Reading up on basilisks, are we?" She asked. "Nasty creatures, they are. They could kill you if you look them right in the eye. Hagrid told me that once when I read this myself and asked him about it. But why are you reading it?" Hermione sighed, but leaned in close to Diana to whisper.
"I think its a basilisk that's been Petrifying everyone!" Diana raised her eyebrows.
"A basilisk? But, Hermione, isn't that a bit far fetched?" Hermione shook her head.
"Think about it. There was water on the ground the night that Mrs. Norris was Petrified. Colin saw it through his camera, Sir Nicholas can't die twice, and Justin must have seen it through him! It was through the reflection on the water, Sir Nicholas, and the camera that protected them! That's why they didn't die!" Diana took these facts in, and her eyes widened as she stood to her feet.
"Sweet mother of Merlin! We've got to tell Harry and Ron!" The two girls jumped up and hurried out of the library, but not before hurrying to their dorms and finding hand mirrors.
"Just in case." They agreed, and hurried back out to find Harry and Ron, when they heard a scream! They followed the sound, and found a mess of water on the ground, and Ravenclaw prefect, Penelope Clearwater.
Diana knelt down and studied Penelope's face, when she realised, with the the way that the older girl has fallen and the direction that she was pointing in...
"Hermione, watch out!" Diana grabbed onto Hermione, holding up her mirror to see glowing, yellow eyes staring back at her.

"Potter, I think you'd better come with me..."
Wondering how she could possibly suspect him this time, Harry saw Ron detach himself from the complaining crowd; he came running up to them as they set off towards the castle. To Harry's surprise, Professor McGonagall didn't object.
"Yes, perhaps you'd better come, too, Weasley..."
Some of the students around them were grumbling about the match being canceled; others looked worried. But among all the faces, Harry didn't see Diana at all, as he and Ron followed Professor McGonagall back into the school and up the marble staircase. This frightened Harry a bit. Diana had never missed a Quidditch match, and absolutely refused to not listen to Harry tell her about the exciting new moves he learned at practice. With her gone at this crucial time in Quidditch... That scared him.
"This will be a bit of a shock," said Professor McGonagall in a surprisingly gentle voice as they approached the infirmary. "There has been another attack... A triple attack."
Harry's insides did a horrible somersault.
"Not Diana, please not Diana..." He begged in his mind as Professor McGonagall pushed the door opened and he and Ron entered.
Madam Pomfrey was bending over a sixth-year girl with long, curly hair. Harry recognised her as the Ravenclaw they'd accidentally asked for directions to the Slytherin common room. And on a bed next to her, lying together were -
"Hermione!" Ron groaned.
"Diana!" Harry gasped, nearly falling back.
Hermione and Diana lay utterly still, their eyes open and glass, Diana's arms wrapped around Hermione protectively.
