"Sentinel." Paladin Danse entered the office of his superior, who stood looking out the window into the Commonwealth. "We came across a... disturbance, today in the middle of our mission to locate and destroy that Courser."

"The Commonwealth is full of disturbances, Paladin." The Sentinel told him, thinking back to the events of ten years ago. "Now is not the time to bring this up."

"There was a woman there. She was helping the Courser." Danse tried to explain. "She wasn't dressed like any Courser I'd ever seen. It looked like she had been trying to live in the Commonwealth for a long time."

"Probably another Synth trying to blend in." The Sentinel insisted, begging Danse to leave in his head.

"Sir, she looked like you." There. He had said it. "Except, she had red hair." This got the Sentinel's attention.

"Did she?" Danse nodded.

"Yes, sir. Just like in your picture." The Sentinel turned around to face Danse.

"I want you to bring her to me." He ordered. "I want her alive, and unharmed. Just her." Paladin Danse nodded.

"Yes, sir. I will see to it immediately." As he walked out of the room, the Sentinel looked down at the photograph that sat on his desk.

The photo was about twenty years old, and had come a long way to sit in the cracked picture frame it did today. It was a bit crinkled from being folded, but retained the picture that had been taken the day he and his sister had turned ten years old down in Vault 101.

OC

As Sam and Amber walked towards the Boston Police Station, they were approached by a tall man wearing power armor.

"Excuse me." He said to them. "Are you Samantha Manson?" Sam clutched her gun tightly in her hands.

"That depends. Who wants to know?"

"My name is Paladin Danse." He said. "I work for the Brotherhood of Steel."

"Racist bastards." Amber muttered under her breath, earning a nudge from Sam.

"What do you want?"

"I have orders from my Sentinel to bring you in for questioning, unharmed and alive." He explained, and Sam looked to Amber.

"I wouldn't trust him." Amber told her, glaring at Danse. "It could be a trick. The Brotherhood sounds like a great cause, but everyone knows they don't help anything nonhuman."

"Would you rather we help Feral Ghouls and Super Mutants?" Danse grumbled. "We could help them destroy you. Or, we could lead hordes of Synths to your settlements to shoot you down."

"Not every nonhuman creature is attempting to destroy humanity!" Amber exclaimed furiously, and Sam put her hand on Amber's shoulder, trying to calm her down.

"Danse, what does your Sentinel want with me?" She asked.

"It's none of my business what happens between you and the Sentinel." Danse told her stiffly. "All I know is that he wants you alive, unharmed, and alone." Sam looked to Amber.
