"Help!" I turned my head at the sound of the voice. "Someone, please! Help me!" The voice sounded strained, and hurt.

"Come on!" I hurried towards the voice.

"Amber! Wait!" Fang called, but I barely heard him.

"Help me, please! Anyone!" The voice called again. I turned the corner, and saw a boy lying on the ground. He looked weak, barely concious.

"I'm here! Its okay!" I murmured, running over and sliding to my knees, leaning over him. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I got ambushed." The boy groaned, rolling over onto his back as the guys caught up. "A bunch of weird looking guys. I don't know what they wanted, but they took off as soon as I shouted for help."

"Yeah, because that's how the Mutants work." Eli growled, showing me the M that was marked on the boy's wrist. "Now tell us who you really are." The boy looked to me, and in the dim streetlight, his eyes were a cocoa brown, soft and gentle, pleading even.

"Please, tell me you're Heathens. I really need help."

"O-Of course we're Heathens!" I told him, yanking my own sweatshirt sleeve up and showing him the star like symbol on my wrist.

"Thank goodness!" He gasped, grabbing my wrist as if I would take off running. "My name is Andre. I'm a Heathen, like you."

"Yeah right." Fang muttered, but I chose to ignore him.

"Please, believe me." Andre begged him. "I was captured by Aikan. He took my power, and killed my brother. He always marks his victims before he destroys them. Andrew, my brother and I, we refused to join legions with him. He cut away our Heathen marks, and he took out Andrew. I ran away to avoid the same fate."

"And what about being ambushed?" Fang demanded. "Was that a lie?" Andre shook his head.

"Yes, it was a lie. I was injured in my escape. The Hunter, he can shoot arrows from his wrists. He shot me in the leg." Andre sat up, his blonde hair swishing gently across his cheek and pulled up his pants leg,, revealing a loosely wrapped wound. "I removed the arrow, but I couldn't dress the wound properly and I lost a lot of blood."

"Oh, you poor thing!" I murmured, taking out my pocket knife and cutting off half of my shirt, then tore that piece apart to wrap around the cloth already there. "That should you hold you over for a while." Andre smile at me. A beautiful smile that made my heart absolutely melt.

"Sweet girl. Please, I have to know your name."

"Amber." I told him, holding his hand in mine, choosing not to comment on the healing wound on his wrist. Where the Heathen's exploding star would be.

"Amber." Him saying my name touched my heart, and sent butterflies soaring through my stomach. "A true jewel. I can't thank you enough."

"Don't think this is over." I told him, bringing his arm over my shoulder and helping him to a stand. "You're coming with us."

"Amber." Eli's voice made me jump. I'd nearly forgotten that the other guys were there. "We can't trust him."

"He needs our help!" I insisted, and Asher came hurrying over to help, even though I had him. "He's injured, and he's a Heathen! What do you have against that?"
