"Captain Rogers, there's something else that we need your attention on." Fury noted, and started walking down the hall. Steve jogged to catch up, his heart pounding. What else could they have for him? After being let out of the ice, he wasn't sure he could take much more.
He was led down a corridor as large bolted doors opened and closed before and after him and Fury, the air growing colder and colder as they went in further and further. "We found this in the laboratory where Howard Stark and the rest of your team conducted experiments, including your Super Soldier experiment. No one's tried to open it, thanks to the message left behind it." Fury explained when they went through the final door, and Steve saw her.
It was as though she were trapped in ice herself, but the material wasn't made from ice. A frozen, gelatin like material held her in a state where it looked as though she were trying to run towards whoever was containing her. There were marks where it looked as though she had been inside a cage before being frozen, and she looked terrified.
"Andy." Steve whispered, walking slowly towards the girl trapped in the material, holding up a hand to touch the cold block, his hand barely an inch from her own outreached palm.
"You know her?" Steve nodded at Fury's question. "We found a recording of why she was trapped in this block, and only learned her name. Antonia Ivera." Steve nodded again.
"Yeah. This is Andy." He murmured, unable to tear his eyes away from her face. "She was a child of the war. I found her after freeing soldiers from HYDRA. She's got...special powers."
"So we've heard." Steve turned to Fury as he turned on a computer to play a recording. Steve watched as Howard Stark sat in before him, clearing his throat.
"If you are watching this, that means that you have discovered the Ivera Project." He started. "Antonia Ivera came to us at a crucial time in the war against Germany." As his voice continued, it showed a video of Ivera using her powers, using her ability to control the ground to dig a hole, and then dragging water from the condensation to pour water into the hole, making a little pond. "With her abilities to control the elements as she did, we believed we had a great tool, a weapon, and a super soldier rolled into one." The video cut back to Stark. "Unfortunately, Antonia Ivera was quite the tortured soul, unable to control her powers due to lack of control of her emotions." The next clip, Steve remembered. Andy had been having a rough day, and had been having a discussion with Colonel Phillips, where she'd lost her temper, and had burned two holes into the ground in a fury. "We were lucky to have our Super Soldier, Captain Steve Rogers, able to keep Ivera calm enough for us to continue with our study." In the same video, Steve watched himself run up to Andy and mitigate the situation, Fury giving him a side eye.
"She didn't like him." Steve muttered. "He treated her like she was one of the soldiers. She was just a teenage girl who was terrified of what she could do." Fury nodded as he turned back to the video, where it had gone back to Stark, who looked grim.
"Unfortunately, after we lost Captain Rogers when his plan went down, Ivera was..." he seemed at a loss for words. "Inconsolable. And that made her uncontrollable."
The next video was in an interrogation room, and Steve's heart broke as he watched Peggy lead Andy into the room and presumably give her the news, although the security camera held no audio.
He watched as Andy began to sob, falling to her knees. Peggy, ever the professional, walked out of the room, Steve watching as she wiped her own eyes. Seemed like she felt they both needed a private moment. As soon as she was gone, Andy exploded into s ball of flames, the camera going out and switching back to Stark. "After the discovery of our interrogation room's destruction and the destructive behavior that followed in Captain Roger's death from Ivera, we decided our best course of action was to store her away for a time being." Screams came from the screen, and Steve stepped forward.
