Nicky watched as Mortui fell, but the evil man had one more thing to say.
"Just because I'm gone, doesn't mean our deal is off! Your father is still gone! A-and you'll never see him again." Then Mortui fell to the ground and disappeared in a puff of purple smoke. Nicky walked over to it, feeling drawn to the smoke, and inhaled some, smelling the horrid dead smell of Mortui. She knew he was right. She could feel it. Her dad was gone. Harmony was gone. Swaine and Esther, they were all gone! That was when she suddenly felt dizzy, and began to wobble a bit, her vision blurring.
"Nicky?" She heard Jayden say. Then everything went black, as if she'd closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, she found herself in a bright place, with greenery, and sunlight.
"Jayden? Evan? Sappy? Where are you?" She asked, looking around.
"Nicole." She heard a voice say. It was so familiar, yet she couldn't place it. She turned around, and saw a man. A man with a long black cloak that had strange markings on it, and long red hair like her own. His eyes were blue, but didn't twinkle, and he looked like he didn't smile often.
"Who are you?" The man came over to her.
"I am your father's soul mate. Lucien. You were losing hope, weren't you?" She nodded, her fists clenched.
"I'd lost hope the minute I had entered the Porcine Palace. My dad wasn't there, nor was anybody else. And I can't go up against Daimon. I tried before, and he took the ship and my friends, my family." She felt burning tears fill her eyes. "I can't save them. Everything I've done... It was all for nothing." Lucien walked over to her.
"Your father once felt like that. He had Queen Cassiopeia there to help him. Now, I am here to help you." Then Lucien took her hands in his. "Close your eyes." Nicky closed her eyes, and saw some fairies, who was watching her with Mortui from inside the Deep Dark Wood.
"Crikey! Now there's someone who could put up a fight!" one said.
"You're not wrong, mun! I'd bet my right antenna that she's out for the world!" Nicky opened her eyes and gasped at Lucien.
"Those are the fairies from the Deep Dark Wood!" Lucien nodded.
"Just seeing you stand up to someone like Mortui when no one else had, had given them great hope. There's more, though. Listen." Nicky closed her eyes again.
"There! Now my kitchen is spic and span!" a woman from Ding Dong Dell said, looking satisfied at her kitchen floor.
"Mama! I found my bear!" called a little girl's voice. "Those nasty rats didn't chew it up!"
"Yargh! Get back into that well, you dirty nasty rats!" called Tommy's voice, chasing rats back into Ding Dong Well with his broom.
"There, now the palace is ready for King Tom's return!" Said another man's voice.
"I still can't believe that we were able to get out of the well!" called a grimalkin from where he was fluffing a pillow on the throne.
"I know! And it's all thanks to that girl!"
"Hold the stilt straight, Gerard! I can't get the sheet properly hung up if it's crooked!" the scene changed to a woman resetting up her shop in Al Mamoon.
"Yes, dear." said the man. "It's so good to be back in town!"
"Goodness, Ali! Don't blow up my kitchen!" Yasmina's voice laughed as she came into the kitchen to see Ali's face covered in black smoke from a failed alchemy test. He laughed too.
"Just trying to create a few more healing potions. It'd be a bit of help to Nicky and Evan if they return in the need of some!"
"Nicky certainly helped us out!" Yasmina remarked.
"Crikey! I still can't believe how peaceful it is!" a fairy said in Golden Grove.
"I know, mun! Especially with the guardian all calmed down!" said another. "We oughta let ouer butties know about it though, en't it?"
"We will! I just can't believe it!"
"I'll bet you it was Ollie-boy's girl! She's a right hero, mun!"
"Oh my! The littlies are coming!" The Fairy Godmother's voice hooted.
"Don't worry, mam! We're here to help!" Smiley n' Surly came running over.
"But it's too soon! They'll be a stake with the world in danger!"
"No worries, mun! We've gotta proper good hero out there! She's saving ouer world!"
"Jayden, what if we don't win?" Evan's small voice came over, and it showed him and Jayden, sitting on a bed together aboard the Sea Cow. Evan looked like he had just woken up from a nightmare and Jayden had him on his lap, cuddling him.
"Don't worry, Evan. We'll win, with Nicky on our side."
"But what if something happens to Nicky?" Jayden shook his head.
"Nothing will happen to Nicky. She's too tough for that."
"Swaine, I've known Nicky her whole life. I know that she can save this world." Nichole's voice came through. Swaine sighed.
"I'm just worried, you know?" Nichole scoffed.
"She's my namesake, the daughter of Oliver, the daughter of a Great Sage's daughter's soulmate, and the niece of the Songstress. I think the one you should be worried about is Daimon." Swaine laughed and kissed Nichole on the cheek.
"I'm so glad you're okay." Nicky's eyes flew open.
"When did that last scene happen?" She asked Lucien.
"Back in the apartment, before you all came back to Ni No Kuni." Nicky wiped her eyes.
"They were all... happy." Lucien nodded.
"Because of you. It was as if their hearts were all broken, and you gave them back their belief."
"It was... me. I saved them." Lucien nodded again, smiling. "Thank you. Thank you, Lucien." He patted her shoulder.
"You're welcome, child. Now, return to the world of the living. Your friends are worried for you."(Now, this is just one of two ideas I have for the chapter. For those of you who read it, let me know which one you think should go in the story in the future!)
