Rachel
Chapter 22
“Rachel I think you should see this.” Patricia came in to my office late in the day after Cammie and everyone had left.
“What is it?” I asked as she turned on the small TV in the corner of the room and put on a news channel.
“…believed that the bomb was a suicide but no further comment has been made by the theme park or the police.” The british news correspondent was saying.
“What was there?” I asked, still watching the screen as CCTV footage came up. Patricia paused the image as I spotted two people stood near the cafe that, according to the news, was now none existent.
“No.” I whispered, my face paling, “Tell me they got out Patricia?”
“We believe they did.” Patricia nodded, “They certainly weren’t killed by the bomb but what happened once the bomb went off we don’t know.”
“Ra-“ Mathew came in and stopped when he looked at Patricia and I.
“There’s been an explosion.” I told him, not looking up form the computer I was now working on.
“Who?” He looked to Patricia.
“Cameron and Zach.” She told him.
“Please,” I whispered as the estates webpage loaded, painfully slowly, “please, please.”
“She might not have put anything up yet Rachel.” Matt pointed out as he rested a hand on my shoulder, “When did the attack happen?”
“About two hours ago.” Patricia told us.
“They’ll need to get out of there, that will be their priority.” Matthew tried to assure me.
“I will go and tell Joe.” Patricia left me with Mathew as he took me in his arms.
“What if it was aimed at them Matt?” I whispered, a lump catching in my throat.
“Rachel,” Matt sighed, “she will know exactly what you’re thinking, and feeling. How many times has she been left behind and heard about such an incident?”
“She’s in trouble Matthew.” I whispered, “They’re after her already.”
“Zach’s with her,” Matt reminded me, “they’ve lived through worse.”
“Our luck is going to run short one day Matt.”
“It’s not luck Rach,” I smiled softly as he brushed my hair back with his fingers, “it’s skill. They were taught by the best, that’s what counts.”
“They’ve not put anything up though.” I whispered, glancing back to the webpage as it refreshed its self.
“I know.” Matt kissed my head, “They will though.”
The two of us looked around as the door opened and Joe came in,“We’ll keep watching for them.”
