Chapter 43
Cammie
“We were too late,” I looked to Liz as Joe spoke, her face paled and she rested her head in her hands.
“I’m sorry Liz,” Zach sighed at the other end of the line.
“Don’t worry,” Liz wiped her damp eyes before she froze and looked up to us, “Zach,”
“Yeah?”
“Go up the stairs and in to the third room on the left,” Liz instructed, Zach didn’t say anything as we heard the gentle thudding as he went up the stairs.
“Go on,” Joe told Liz.
“Next to her bed, there’s some white drawers. Pull out the middle drawer completely, on the back of it there should be an envelope.” Liz explained.
“What should be in it Lizzy?” Bex looked to her.
“The summer Cammie went missing I worried that if we got involved something might happen to our families,” Liz played with her hands as she explained, “In my spare time I made tracker, I put one in a capsule, like a tablet, I told Ellie that if anything like this ever happened she should swallow the tablet.”
“She didn’t question you?” Joe asked down the line,
“Doctor Fibbs and I had made a drug the term before, it makes people comply with things without remembering it.” Liz shrugged, “Is it there?”
“No,” Zach replied quietly.
“Hang on,” Macey stopped us, “So you made a drug that made your sister know to take this tracker without realising that she had to?”
“Basically,” Liz nodded.
“So we can track them?” A smile formed on Bex’s face, possibly the first since her parents had been taken.
“Yeah,” Liz nodded, “And that’ll lead us to them.”
I thought for a minute, these people didn’t just want me, they wanted all of us. There may well have been more of them than us. It would be nearly impossible to save our parents safely.
“I’ve got a plan.”

“Are you sure about this?” Bex asked as I fastened my harness on the roof of the building we had traced our families to. We’d done our research, Abby was in one end of the building and the rest of our families at the other end.
“You worry about your job,” I smiled to her in reassurance.
“Good luck.” She sighed as I lowered myself down through the air vent and in to what I hoped was my Aunt’s cell.
Abby was lying on her bed with her back to me,
"Abby!" I whispered as loud as I dared to. My Aunt groaned and rolled over on her bed, "Cam?" She frowned and got up, her bump was huge now and I remembered that she was due any time now.
"Don't ask," I told her as I removed the harness, "just get you and your bump over here." I helped her tighten the harness, "Bex, Liz and Macey will meet you when you get out."
"What about Zach?" Abby asked as I took hold of the rope.
"He's on his way, I hope." I pulled on the rope twice.
