Chapter 76

Rachel

I was walking with Joe down to the main hall with Joe and thinking about everything, a week from now the halls would be dotted with the new students that were starting here for the first time, the week after that they would be crammed with all the returning students.

“What are you thinking?” Joe asked as he took my hand.

“About how soon school will be back in session,” I sighed, “New year, new students and all that.”

“We’ll be okay,” Joe squeezed my hand gently as we took a seat, “Won’t we?”

“Yeah,” I smiled to him, “If Matt doesn’t sort himself out we’ll be okay.”

“Good,” We both looked up as the door opened and the kids came in laughing and joking, Zach had his arm over Cam’s shoulder, Bex on his other side laughing. Grant, Preston and Jonas were walking with Liz and Macey, all chatting casually as you would expect from a group their age.

“Hey,” Cam smiled to me, “Do you know if Chef Louis has made anything?”

“He’s brining stuff out in a bit.” Joe answered for me, “How are you this morning?”

“We’re okay,” Zach smiled to Cammie before looking to the others, “They’re tired.”

“They were playing truth or dare until late.” Cam explained and took a seat, gently placing a hand on her stomach.

“We went to bed instead,” Zach smirked.

“Because you’re boring,” Grant chipped in making us laugh a little.

“Have you heard from dad?” Cam asked me quietly, “I want him to know I’m cross with him but he deserves to know I’m okay.”

“He knows,” I nodded to her, “He slept on Abby’s sofa last night, she might bring him over this afternoon.”

I noticed Zach turn his head slightly to face us when I said that but he didn’t say anything and turned back to his conversation with Grant.

“Okay,” Cam nodded and turned to sit further down the table with the others.

“I have a feeling you’re going to be talking to him first?” Joe murmured to me.

“Of course,” I smirked at him, “Give him a bit of my mind.”

“I think he’s going to have had it off Abby already.” He pointed out.

“It won’t do him any harm to hear it again!” I sighed, “It might knock the sense in to him.”

A couple of hours later Joe and I were sat in the staff lounge catching up with Smith, Buckingham and Debany.

“Room for us two?” Abby came in with Kim and sat on the arm of the sofa I was on. I smiled and took the baby from her, making her laugh.

“She is lovely.” Patricia smiled to Kim from where she sat.

“Where are the boys?” Joe asked Abby, making me look up.

“Edward’s gone to the office to get some papers for work.” Abby shrugged.

“And Matt?” I raised my eyebrows.
