Cammie

A few weeks after my dad had took off to who knows where, Zach and I were getting back in to routine. Things were going back to normal well, as normal as any spy’s life ever is.

More often than not we went on joint missions.

Reasons why everyone preferred Operatives Goode and Morgan doing joint missions together-

We knew each other better that anyone else in the CIA knew us.

Because we knew each other so well, a higher percentage of our missions were successful

If Zach was on a mission with me he wasn’t constantly ringing HeadQuarters to check my status.

If I was on a mission with Zach, I didn’t have to worry about him eyeing up any other women.

It meant the operatives would not get jealous/ beat someone up, if assigned to a partner of the opposite gender.

So yeah, it was all round better if we were together on our missions.

Our mission was to tail a questionable man through a small village until other operatives could get there to arrest him, babysitting really. Our cover, a young couple moving in to their new home in the tiny village known as Nookville.

In someways Nookville reminded me of Roseville, it was a small - no, tiny- town where everyone knew everyone, it had the same white picket fences, the same perfectly manicured lawns and the same pretty little houses.

We arrived late in the night and went straight to bed. The next morning we would start our mission.

I smiled as I rolled over the next morning, the smell of eggs and bacon floated through the air, waking me up slowly and pleasantly. I sat up and pulled on one of Zach’s sweaters and followed my nose in to the kitchen.

“Morning,” Zach smiled to me as I hung in the doorway, leaning against the frame.

“Hey,” I smiled as he plated up the bacon and passed me a helping.

“Did you sleep well?” He asked as we both took a seat at the dining table.

“Yeah,” I smiled, “Did you?”

Zach smirked and rolled his eyes, “I always sleep well when I’m with you.”

I threw my head back and laughed at his statement, “You fl-” I trailed off as a distinctive smell hit my nose, and not a pleasant one at that.

“Toast!” Zach jumped up and ran to the toaster, but he was too late, the smoke alarm had already started its incessant bleeping. With a sigh I got up and opened the window to let the smoke out and the air in.

Zach came over to me and pulled a face, “Sorry.”

“Don’t worry.” I smiled to him, “It’s not as bad as my moms!”

Zach laughed for a moment before frowning, “Hear that?”

“What?” I whispered.

“Exactly,” He looked to me, “Nothing.”
