Zach

I smiled as I looked over to Cammie, her eyes had drifted shut and her hair was tucked over one shoulder. She was now my wife.

My wife. I smiled at that thought, she was mine, my love.

I pulled on to the gravel drive and gently nudged Cammie, “Cam, wake up.”

“Hmm?” She looked around the darkness, “Where are we?”

“Put your hand out the window.” I told her, having already had my own DNA sample taken.

“Zach.” She warned.

“Okay,” I sighed, “Remember when Catherine got you?”

A flash of pain crossed Cams face as she remembered, before she nodded once.

“This is where I was brining you, it’s a house, a safe house.” I looked ahead, “It’s almost as safe as the school, you need to put your hand out of the window for a DNA check.” I looked down and scratched the back of my head, “I had it built for us, to live here.”

“You did what?” Cam looked to me in shock as she opened the window and rested her hand on the door frame.

“We needed somewhere to be safe,” I shrugged.

“Ow!” Cam explained and pulled her hand back in to the car. Outside the lights that lined the long driveway came on and the gate opened, allowing us forward along the marked drive through the dense woods, the lights giving off a soft glow.

“It’s beautiful.” Cam breathed as I pulled up at the main house. It was large, but not a mansion. Open, but still private. Safe, but not overbearing.

We got out of the car and I pressed my thumb against the door handle, a small light flashed green and the door easily pushed open. I smiled as Cam looked around the hallway, debating wether to look upstairs or down first.

I took her hand and pulled her through the door on the left in to the main lounge. It was bright and airy, the floor was made up of a pale smooth wood, it reached from the front of the house to the back, both of these walls were glass with metal shutters that could be bought up to any height. A large dark leather sofa sat facing a flatscreen tv with a red rug and coffee table between them. In the outer back corner where the floor changed from wood to tiles was an open kitchen, it looked smooth and sleek decorated in blacks and silvers with a island counter in the centre.

Cam’s eyes were wide and bright as she looked around the open room, “It’s lovely.”

I smiled as she turned to face me, “You look tired,” I commented, “Shall we go and look around upstairs?”

“I want to look around more!” Cam protested.

“We can do that in the morning,” I sighed and leant down to kiss her cheek, “And you can find all the secret passages then too.”

Cam’s eyes lit up as she laughed, “Seriously?”

“Just for you.” I nodded.

We went up to the master bedroom, it was large and spacious, decorated in red and white, with the same wooden floor as the main lounge, the bed frame was a dark mahogany with white sheets and a dark red throw. A white dresser was opposite the bed, all the other furniture was white, including the door that lead to the walk in wardrobe (Macey insisted) The bathroom had a large bath and a walk in shower. All the windows opened out to the woods but were covered by thick curtains.

“I love it,” Cam told me again, “Thank you.”

“I’m glad.” I leant down and kissed her gently, reaching behind her to pull down the zip to her dress.

I watched Cam next morning, it was cloudy outside but still bright, she looked so happy and peaceful. I wished we could always be like this, relaxed and happy, not worried about anything.

We had a week off of work, providing there wasn’t an emergency, a week to relax and just be ourselves.

I kissed Cam’s head and slipped out of the bed, pulling on some sweatpants and heading down to the kitchen.

I was just turning the bacon when there was a pair of hands on my shoulders, “That smells good.”

“You found a passageway then?” I smirked, the one that came from our ensuite down to the back of the walk in food cupboard.

“How’d you know?” Cam frowned as I turned to face her, I pointed at myself, “One, spy. Two, the fifth step on the stairs creaks.”

Cam smiled and shrugged, accepting my response. She moved to the window wall and sighed. I turned off the stove and went over to her, “What is it?”

“I love it Zach, I really do, I just wish it was closer to mom.” She looked to me apologetically.

“Hmm,” I frowned and looked out to the woods, “I thought you knew all the passageways in to Gallagher.”

“What?” Cam stepped back.

“See that rock formation?” I nodded to the boulders about a hundred yards away, “There’s a scanner on it, takes out underground to like a monorail thing.”

“You built a monorail!?” Cammie gaped.

“No, that was your moms idea.” I smirked, “Ten miles is a little far to run if you’re running from someone.”

“Someone that somehow got past the front door?” Cam smirked and raised an eyebrow.

“Better safe than sorry.” I responded.

She considered my point and then nodded in agreement. I showed her around the study, movie room, and gym/ basement before we went back to the kitchen for our breakfast.
