Chapter 57

Cammie

Macey and I went to a little cafe for some lunch while Zach went to his meeting. Macey had seemed a little quiet during the day and I was tempted to ask her about it but didn't want to get in trouble off her.

"What's up?" Macey glanced to me as I picked at my wrap.

"Nothing," I shook my head, preferring not to tell her about what had happened over the past couple of days, "Just lost with my own thoughts."

"Oh," she looked down to her salad, seeming almost put out.

"Why?" I asked her,

"I was talking to Zach lastnight," she sighed,

"Well that's when you suggested we come out?" I shrugged, already knowing that they had spoken.

"He said you'd had some more nightmares," She told me quietly. I felt my face pale as I met her eyes, "He didn't tell you why did he?"

"No," She frowned, "Why?"

I hadn't thought that through, of course she would ask why if I said that!

"No reason," I lied, of course it was pointless, Macey was a friend, she would see right through my lie.

"Share," she rolled her eyes, as if she knew I knew she would see the lie.

"No," I resisted, "I will not tell you,"

"So you admit there's something to tell?" Macey's grin widened, I'd turned it from two friends catching up over lunch to a girl trying to extract the gossip from her friend.

"Not discussing the matter," I shook my head at her.

"Aww come on Cam," she pouted, "You know I love nothing more than some gossip."

"I don't want to talk about it Macey!" I snapped at her, sanding up as I did, "I'm going back to the hotel."

I grabbed my bag and left her sat there, as I walked along the street I knew she had come to follow me.

"Cam wait!" She grabbed my arm, making me hesitate slightly, she was one of my best friends, couldn't I share my problems with her?

"Running doesn't do anything," Macey reminded me, "Talk to us, me!"

I sighed and looked around me, the packed streets weren't the place to have that conversation.

"Come back to the suite," I told her, "I'll explain there."

"So?" Macey looked to me expectantly as we sat on the bed in mine and Zach's suite at the headquarters. I bit my lip and shifted uncomfortably under her gaze, was it really her business to know what Zach and I did behind closed doors?

"Come on Cam," Macey rolled her eyes, "It's not like you've slept with him or anything!" Then she froze and her eyes locked on me as they widened, "Have you?"

I stood up and turned to the mini fridge to get a cold drink, and to stop her from seeing my cherry red face.

"Cameron Morgan!" Macey gasped, "I always thought you were innocent."

"Yeah, yeah," I turned back and sat on the edge of the bed, "That's not the problem though." I pursed my lips and looked to my knees. There was a very interesting pattern of freckles on them, if you got a pen and joined them together in a certain way you could see ...

"Cam!" Macey snapped, "What is the problem?"

I think I must have not heard her the first time she asked as she seemed quite snappy with me all of a sudden.

"That summer is the problem," I sighed and lay back, "The summer when I ran off on my own and got hurt because of my own stupid reckless mistakes!"

"The sex triggered the memories," Macey sighed, but not as if she was guessing, as if she had already known and she was putting the last piece of the puzzle together.

I sat up and looked at her as her face fell, "You knew?" I asked.

"Well..." She hesitated, "I saw Zach and asked how you were and he said that you weren't good so I begged to know why," I stopped her as she paused for breath.

"Zach told you!?" I was cross now, he was telling everyone about our private life without checking with me first!

"Not really," Macey shrugged, "He more dropped hints and I guessed,"

"I will kill him." I spat angrily.

"Who?" Zach came in to the room and I instantly turned on him.

"You've been telling everyone about our private life?!" I stood and walked over to him as he backed up against a wall.

"Only Macey," Zach reasoned.

"You didn't ask me if I minded!" I shouted, "What if my parents found out?"

That made him swallow hard.

"You're an idiot Zach!" I pushed past him and stormed in to the lounge of the suite, aiming for the door. Zach caught my arm as I sobbed and pulled me in to his chest, "You told her anyway Cam, she wasn't going to tell anyone else,"

My tears quickly subsided as Zach sat us down on the sofa, I was being ridiculous and he was right.

"Sorry," I sniffed, "You're right. I only did what I was cross with you for,"

"I'm sorry for not checking with you first," Zach kissed my hair, "I love you,"

"Finished with the outburst?" Macey asked as she came through.

"Sorry for shouting," I sighed, "I was out of line,"

"It's okay," Macey shrugged, "but you need to talk to someone about it, I doubt it will get better on its own."

"We'll see won't we?" Zach tucked my hair back, I nodded in response and got up to get my drink,

"Have you told anyone?" I asked Macey.

"Only Bex," she promised me, "She promised not to tell anyone."

"Okay," I nodded my approval, "I don't think we should tell our parents," I looked to Zach, "They'll only flip."

"At me they will," Zach nodded.

"Don't worry," Macey smiled, "We won't tell them,"

"They won't know," I kissed Zach's cheek, "At least not until you get me pregnant,"

"And that isn't going to happen for a long time yet," Zach warned, of course Macey had to remind us of the risk by adding, "You hope."
